The Duchess of Sussex had a busy start to her visit to Melbourne alongside her husband, Prince Harry.

Touching down in the Australian city on Tuesday, Meghan was spotted out and about for the first time in the country since 2018 for a four-day trip of "private, business and philanthropic" engagements.

After paying a visit to the Melbourne Royal Children's Hospital, Meghan attended a women's homeless shelter run by McAuley Community Services for Women, where she met with survivors of family violence and learned more about the organisation's work supporting women and children in crisis.

Meghan's light-hearted exchange

Donning a pinstriped apron, Meghan got down to business as she helped serve up some freshly made frittata, chatting warmly with those who had waited patiently in line. She was pleasantly surprised by one attendee, who paid the duchess a glowing compliment.

"All right, Leah. How hungry are we?" asked Meghan while she carefully cut into the frittata.

"You look amazing, you look like a model," said Leah while she waited.

"Oh, my God. That's so generous," Meghan replied, visibly touched, while Leah continued: "You do, and you've had children, you have no wrinkles, you have glowing skin."

Laughing and shaking her head, Meghan assured: "Yes, I do!" before adding warmly: "You are so nice."

With a line of people waiting to be served, she passed the dish down the line of volunteers while bidding Leah a fond farewell. "It was nice to meet you," she said.

Later on, Meghan joined the attendees who were tucking into the food, telling them: "We landed here this morning so my jet lag hasn't quite hit yet."

Meghan and Harry's museum visit

After the women's shelter, Meghan rejoined her husband to visit the Australian National Veterans Art Museum, where they embarked on a tour of the site before admiring an exhibit by veterans guided by Tanya Johnston, the founder of the museum.
