Princess Maria Carolina of Bourbon-Two Sicilies has officially confirmed her romance with French far-right politician Jordan Bardella.

The new couple was spotted watching Monaco's Formula 1 Grand Prix this weekend, one of the oldest and most prestigious events in motorsport.

They were seen in the VIP box taking selfies, exchanging meaningful glances, and embracing one another.

Italian socialite Maria Carolina, 22, wore a white dress, which she accessorised with a scarf bearing the Grimaldi crest and an elaborately braided updo.

Her boyfriend, 30, who is considered the "political heir" of Marine Le Pen and is the far-right presidential hopeful, was wearing a navy suit, laughing when Maria whispered in his ear.

They were joined by Princess Maria Chiara, Maria Carolina's sister, who acted as the couple's photographer and captured every detail of the races, and by her mother, Camilla.

A surprising romance

The relationship between Maria Carolina, also Duchess of Palermo and Calabria, and the French politician came to light in early April when they were photographed being very affectionate during a romantic trip to Corsica by Paris Match magazine.

The snapshots were taken on a promenade on the Île de Beauté (Island of Beauty), where they were seen taking a romantic stroll.

The pictures were taken in the island's capital, Ajaccio, where the politician frequently holidays, and which inspired his first book, What I'm Looking For, published in 2024.

Their relationship is believed to have begun a year ago, and they met last May in Monaco.

The politician was joined by his father, Olivier, a motorsport enthusiast, and, as he told Paris Match, it was "love at first sight".

Royal credentials

Maria Carolina is the daughter of Prince Carlo, Duke of Castro, one of two contenders to the head of the royal house of Bourbon-Two Sicilies. However, the title carries no legal standing in the Italian Republic.

The Princess of the Two Sicilies is the goddaughter of Prince Jean-Christophe Napoleon Bonaparte, heir to the French imperial house. Her godfather is the heir of Napoleon Bonaparte, born 257 years ago.

She is also a distant descendant of France's King Louis XIV.

Maria Carolina studied social sciences, marketing, and management, completing her studies at the prestigious Harvard University. She speaks six languages and has more than 350,000 followers on social media.

Jordan, 30, is the current president of the National Rally, a right-wing party with nationalist foundations, which he has led for a decade.
