Tyra Banks is back — sort of.

The model returned to her roots with the release of Reality Check: Inside America's Next Top Model on Netflix this week, a docuseries revisiting the seminal modeling competition show she created that ran for 24 seasons.

In the series, she is not afraid to revisit some of her less-than-flattering moments on television, like the show's controversies around fat shaming and picking on the women's appearances, and the infamous race-swapping photoshoots, among others.

The series also suggested the notorious modeling competition, which ran from 2003 to 2018, may come back for a 25th cycle.

In the third and final episode, Tyra teases: "After the show I had so many big ideas for my life. I'm obsessed with pivoting and I live in Australia now. I feel like my work is not done. You have no idea what we have planned for Cycle 25."

TBD on that, but for now, dive into Tyra's life down under and where her net worth stands today.

Tyra's net worth

Though there is little to no concrete, public evidence to substantiate an accurate net worth for many celebrities, some outlets report that Tyra's net worth is approximately $90 million.

Tyra, who was born and raised in Inglewood, California, got her start in the modeling industry when she was 15 years old and signed with L.A. Models before switching to Elite Model Management the following year.

She subsequently moved to Milan, and for her first Paris Fashion Week, in 1991, she booked 25 runway shows. In 1993, she signed a contract with CoverGirl cosmetics, paving her way for a career in commercial modeling in addition to high fashion modeling, and in 1996 and 1997, she became the first African-American woman on the cover of GQ and the first Black woman on the cover of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue.

Tyra's life in Australia

Tyra moved to Sydney, Australia, in late 2023, and has since put down roots in the continent with her family, which includes her son with ex Erik Asla, York Banks Asla, born January 2016, and her boyfriend Louis Bélanger-Martin, who she started dating in 2018.

The mom-of-one fell in love with Australia while developing her ice cream company, SMiZE and Dream. Speaking in April 2025 with Jenna Bush Hager on what was then TODAY with Jenna and Friends (now TODAY with Jenna and Sheinelle), she said: "I just fell in love with it," adding: "I was like, 'I'm happy here and they love to eat some ice cream, so, are we going to do this family?' And we did."

Giving insight into her daily routine and some of her favorite spots in Sydney, she said among them is Darling Harbour, where she hopes to have an ice cream store. "Making ice cream has been a lifelong dream of mine and it's all happening right here in Australia. This idea is a tribute to my mama Carolyn."
