Paris Jackson no doubt left her fans stunned when she shared some rare photos with her mom, Debbie Rowe.
The 27-year-old and the former dermatology nurse reunited for a mother-daughter day on Thursday, and Paris documented their sweet reunion on Instagram.
Taking to her Stories, Paris shared two photos of the pair. One featuring them wearing coordinating patterned jackets and smiling for a selfie, and another similar smiling snapshot of them enjoying the outdoors, which Paris captioned: "Lately," alongside a heart emoji.
Debbie was married to Paris's dad, the late Michael Jackson, for three years before they divorced in 1999. Following their divorce, she gave up custody of Paris and her brother, Prince Michael, to the singer.
The siblings and their younger brother Bigi, who was born to an unidentified surrogate mother, were raised primarily by their dad until he died in 2009 at age 50.
Paris and Debbie were estranged for her entire childhood and didn't reconnect until she turned 13.
"When I was really, really young, my mom didn't exist," Paris recalled in a 2017 interview with Rolling Stone.
When she realized that "a man can't birth a child," Paris questioned her dad about her mother, but it wasn't until after his death that she began to research Debbie online.
"I've had a lot of mother figures," Paris said, citing her grandmother, Katherine Jackson, and nannies, among others.
"But by the time my mom came into my life, it wasn't a 'mommy' thing. It's more of an adult relationship."
Paris and Debbie reconnected during her teenage years, and their bond grew stronger when her mom was diagnosed with breast cancer in July 2016.
"[Paris] is my rock, she's amazing," Debbie told Entertainment Tonight in October 2016. "She's been with me the whole time. She was there. First phone call, [it] took her 30 seconds [to reach out] when she found out. For her to kiss my bald head, [her love] is pretty unconditional."
That same month, Paris shared a photo of herself kissing her mom on the head, writing on Instagram: "I'm a fighter because she's a fighter. Love you mom."
In 2021, Paris shared more insight into her relationship with Debbie during an appearance on Red Table Talk.
When asked by her friend Willow Smith how it was to begin a relationship with her mother at the age of 15, four years after losing her dad, Paris said: "It's cool.
"Like, getting to know her, seeing how similar we are, getting into what kind of music she likes, and she really likes country and folk. I sent her some of the stuff that I'm working on that have, like, banjos in them."
Reflecting on a picture being shown on screen of the pair together for Debbie's birthday, Paris added: "We look a lot alike. It's just cool having her as a friend. It's very chill, which I love. It's the perfect word to describe it."
