Jessie Buckley publicly revealed the name of her eight-month-old daughter for the first time on Sunday when she accepted her Best Actress award at the 2026 Oscars.
The 36-year-old, who won for her role in Chloe Zhao's Hamnet, gave her baby girl and her husband, mental health professional, Freddie, a sweet shout-out during her emotional speech.
Speaking directly to her husband, whom she married in 2023, Jessie said: "You, Fred. I love you, man. I love you. You're the most incredible dad. You're my best friend and I want other have 20,000 more babies with you! I do, I do."
She then addressed their daughter, revealing that the couple named her Isla. "And Isla, my little girl who is eight months, who is absolutely no idea what's going on and is probably dreaming of milk, but this is kind of a big deal, and I love you, and I love being your mom, and I can't wait to discover life beside you."
Speaking to HELLO! and other press backstage, Jessie shared Isla's sweet milestone while admitting it felt like a "crazy alchemy" that she won on what was also her first Mother's Day in the UK.
"My daughter got her first tooth this week. I woke up with her lying on my chest, snuggling me, and I feel like what a gift to get to explore motherhood through this incredible mother that Agnes is and was [in Hamnet], and then to become one myself, and then to receive this recognition of the incredible role mothers play in our world on this day is something I will never, ever forget," she said.
Jessie revealed in December that she'd quietly welcomed her daughter earlier that year after announcing her pregnancy on a red carpet in April.
"Everyone is doing great. I mean, everything is different," she said of being a parent on The New York Times Modern Love podcast. "Everything’s new. This little human's new. You're new. Your relationship's new. Your whole relationship to the world is new. It's intense, but it's just – I just love it. I love it so much."
Not only did Jessie continue her clean sweep of Awards season, having won Best Actress at the Golden Globes, BAFTAs, and the Actor Awards, but she also made history as the first Irish woman to win Best Actress at the Oscars.
It wasn't just her win that was memorable, but also her red carpet look, too. Jessie wore a striking red-and-pink Chanel gown inspired by Grace Kelly's iconic 1956 Oscars dress, blending vintage elegance with contemporary couture craftsmanship.
The dramatic off-the-shoulder red satin bodice wrapped softly around her shoulders, creating a sculptural silhouette that contrasted beautifully with the flowing blush-pink skirt. The ethereal fabric cascaded into a sweeping train, adding movement and drama as she made her way along the carpet.
Jessie kept her styling refined and understated, allowing the statement gown to take center stage. Her short hair was slicked back with a deep side part, while delicate jewelry and a bold red lip completed the timeless look.
