Chuck Norris is remembered as a martial arts professional, as Ranger Walker, oftentimes a meme, and as a doting grandfather.
Following the Walker, Texas Ranger actor's death aged 86 on March 19, his granddaughter Greta Norris shared a heartfelt tribute in his honor.
Chuck is survived by his wife Gena O'Kelley, 62, and their children, twins Dakota and Danilee, 25, as well as his children with late ex-wife Dianne Kay Holechek, sons Mike and Eric Norris, and a daughter Dina, he welcomed with a woman named Johanna.
Following Chuck's passing, Greta, whose father is Mike, took to Instagram and shared a lengthy tribute along with photos of her and her grandfather through the years. "You all knew Chuck Norris as the man that counted to infinity twice, the man who got bit by a cobra and the cobra died. He was the man that would not do a push up but would push the earth down," she wrote. "Chuck Norris was known for many amazing things but what I am most proud of is I got to know him as my Papa."
"I knew him as the old man that would come to grandparents days at school, my soccer games and cheer me on as proud as he could be. A grandfather that would sit on his rocking chair and listen to me tell him stories and would sit with me watching his movies and reminiscing on all of his life’s achievements with a huge smile on his face," Greta added.
She further recalled: "He would play dress up with me and loved to joke around and had a laugh and smile that could bring you out of sadness."
"If you got the opportunity to meet him you knew he is the most down to earth person ever, in a room full of people he would make it known that he was listening to you and only you. He made everyone he met feel like a friend."
"Papa is one of the most special people in my life and I am forever grateful and proud that I am his granddaughter," Greta went on, concluding with: "Papa I love you so much thank you for everything. The world truly lost an icon and I lost my grandpa. Now tell grandma I said hi. I love you forever papa."
Greta's grandmother Dianne passed away aged 84 on December 21, 2025. She and Chuck had been classmates at North High School in Torrance and tied the knot when he was 18 and she was 17, in 1958. They separated in 1988 and finalized their divorce the following year.
Greta has followed in her grandfather's footsteps and is an aspiring actress. She made her screen debut in a 2012 religious movie written by her father, I Am… Gabriel, and has since also appeared on AmeriGeddon (2016) and The Crossroads of Hunter Wilde (2019).
Chuck passed away in Kauai, Hawai'i after a brief hospitalization following an undisclosed medical emergency.
In their statement, his family maintained they "would like to keep the circumstances private," adding: "Please know that he was surrounded by his family and was at peace."
