Nicole Kidman admitted she is "holding steady" following upheaval in her personal life after her 19-year marriage to Keith Urban ended in divorce.
The actress has remained relatively quiet about the September 2025 split, only breaking her silence about her divorce from Keith, which was finalized in January, earlier this month.
However, while promoting her Amazon Prime Video series Scarpetta, Nicole made a rare comment about how she was feeling in the aftermath of a turbulent several months.
"I'm good. I'm holding steady," she told The Age Australia. "That's a good place to be able to say," she added.
While discussing digging into her experiences of grief and loss for her role as renowned forensic pathologist, Dr. Kay Scarpetta, Nicole hinted that she used her divorce to help her convey her emotions.
"So, not in relation to my parents, but do I have in my well of experience loss, grief, pain, resilience, the desire to move forward, conflict. All of it. Yeah," she said, referring to her dad, Anthony, who died in 2014, and her mom, Janelle, who died in 2024.
"I pretty much, at this age, I've experienced a lot and continuing to experience it as all the different parts of being a 58-year-old woman come into play," she added.
Speaking for the first time about her divorce to Variety earlier this month, Nicole admitted that 2025 was a difficult year for her. "I was quiet. I had other things going on. I was in my shell."
She then spoke directly about her split from Keith when asked if she was doing all right post-separation. "I am, because I'm always going to be moving toward what's good," she said, noting that her family was and always will remain her number one priority.
"What I'm grateful for is my family and keeping them as is and moving forward," Nicole continued. "That's that. Everything else I don't discuss out of respect. I'm staying in a place of 'We are a family,' and that's what we’ll continue to be. My beautiful girls, my darlings, who are suddenly women."
Nicole and Keith met in 2005 and tied the knot a year later, welcoming daughters Sunday Rose, now 17, and Faith Margaret, now 15, during their marriage.
It was specified in the terms of their divorce that neither party would speak poorly of the other. Neither is paying the other spousal or child support, and all matters about their children will be decided jointly.
"They will not speak badly of each other or the members of the family of the other parent," their marital dissolution agreement read. "They will encourage each child to continue to love the other parent and be comfortable in both families."
Nicole also affirmed in the interview that, despite a shift in their personal situation, she will remain in Nashville for the foreseeable future because her daughters have also built their lives there.
"We have our life here. I'm part of the city and community for 20 years. It's my home."
