Lamar Odom is revisiting his past, but also turning the page.
Over a decade since his infamous overdose at a Nevada brothel, the former basketball star is the subject, and participant, of a new Netflix docuseries, Untold: The Death & Life of Lamar Odom.
In it, he doesn't hold back when it comes to discussing his struggle with addiction, his journey with sobriety, and his marriage to Khloe Kardashian. Here's what he had to say, and where he is now.
He is over 60 days sober
In the documentary, Lamar admits he relapsed shortly after he was released from the hospital following his 2015 overdose, after which he spent months comatose in the hospital, and suffered from 12 strokes, six heart attacks, a three-day coma, and had to re-learn how to walk and talk.
In January, he was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, though he pleaded not guilty, and as of January 28, he has been sober from drugs and alcohol. "Every recovering addict knows that you want to kind of stay away from things that were traumatizing in your life," he told USA Today in March.
"It's like swimming in a cesspool of trauma," he added. "And I'm trying to get out of it, but the story reels me back into that pool every time. But I just know I'm bigger than the situation, and I hope to help a lot of people by giving my testimony. Not just with the story, but just in life, that we can all overcome addiction."
He has a girlfriend
Though he keeps his love life largely out of the spotlight now, Lamar is reportedly in a relationship with Rachel Bradley.
Prior to being married to Khloé, he was with his high school sweetheart and mother of his children, Liza Morales, and in November 2019, he was engaged to personal trainer Sabrina Parr, however they broke up the following year.
Lamar's children
Lamar welcomed three children with Liza, Destiny, in 1998, Lamar Jr., born in 2002, and Jayden, who was born in 2005, though who passed away when he was six months old from sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) while sleeping in his crib.
In the docuseries, he says that while he was in a coma, his kids prepared to say goodbye. "When we went into the hospital room, it was hard seeing him all tubed up and everything," Destiny said in the episode. "He was so swollen. I remember how swollen he was."
Lamar Jr., who goes by LJ and also appears in the special, said that after doctors told them Lamar could hear them even while in a coma, he played one a clip of fans going wild during a game of Lamar's over a play he made on the court.
