ABC World News Tonight anchor David Muir offered a message of support to his close friends, Mark Consuelos and Kelly Ripa, after the actor revealed on Live with Kelly and Mark that his father had passed away in March. David, who has known the couple for over a decade, took to Instagram to share his condolences with Mark, who was close with his late father, Saul Consuelos.
Beneath Kelly and Mark's social media video tribute to Saul, which contained photos and videos of the proud grandfather over the decades set to the tune of Rocío Dúrcal's "Amor Eterno", David commented: "A true gentleman," alongside a heart emoji.
Several other celebrities showed up to support Mark during the difficult time, including TV mogul Andy Cohen, who wrote: "A wonderful man." Mark's Riverdale co-star, Marisol Nichols, added: "He looks like he was a wonderful father and grandfather."
Mark's sister, Adriana Consuelos, also commented: "Beautiful. So good to see Dad smiling throughout the years. Forever in my heart." She also shared a separate post on her Instagram page that read: "The kindest and most loving father and Nonno. You are my heart forever and always. I love you," alongside a photo of him placing a hand on her face.
Kelly and Mark's daughter, Lola, broke her silence on her aunt's post, writing: "I love you so much. The best nonno there ever was. And still is the best. We have the best guardian angel." Their eldest son, Michael, simply shared an old photo of him sitting on Saul's shoulders as a young boy.
Mark announced the sad news of Saul's death on Monday's episode of Live. "Two weeks ago today, my father passed away after a long bout with an illness. He passed away peacefully. Such a fascinating man," he shared.
Kelly added that her father-in-law was always there to help with the kids when her busy schedule clashed with Mark's work as an actor.

"I have to say, I'm so grateful to your dad for everything he did. A lot of times you'd be away working, and we'd take the show on the road, and your dad would come on remotes to take care of the kids so I could go to work," she recalled. Kelly then reminisced about how Saul would come to back-to-school nights for the kids with her.
"He was very involved. I remember one year, randomly, [Mark] showed up and they were like, 'Is this your new husband? Because he resembles your old husband.' And I was like, 'No, this is my husband, that was my father-in-law.'"
"But everybody assumed for a long time because my father-in-law was my husband. Because in New York, it's not unusual. It's pretty common. He was the average age range of all the dads," she joked.
The TV personality added that their three children, Michael, Lola and Joaquin, "took it particularly hard" when Saul passed away, as "this is their first loss they've ever experienced in their lives".
Saul immigrated to the US from Mexico as a teenager and served in the Navy for decades. He met and married Camilla, an Italian woman, and together they welcomed three kids, with Mark being the youngest.
