Often considered one of the greatest actors of his generation, leave it to Oscar Isaac to take on some of the most interesting and complex projects in Hollywood on the regular.

The Golden Globe-winning actor, 47, is a part of the new cast for Netflix's comedy drama anthology series Beef, opposite Charles Melton, Carey Mulligan, and Cailee Spaeny, a show that won its previous leads, Ali Wong and Steven Yeun, Emmys for their work.

However, speaking of family dynamics, Oscar isn't the only one in his family with ties to Hollywood. In fact, his wife of nearly a decade even has an Oscar nomination to her name.

Nana Elvira Lind, 44, was born in Copenhagen, Denmark in October 1981. And from a young age, she developed an interest in theater and filmmaking, especially documentary filmmaking.

She released her directorial debut, a documentary named Songs for Alexis, in 2014 at the Toronto Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Festival, with it earning recognition at festivals in Tallinn and her native Copenhagen.

Her miniseries Twiz & Tuck premiered in 2017, as did her second doc Bobbi Jene, which won Best Documentary Feature at the Tribeca Film Festival. Her 2020 fiction short The Letter Room paired her up with Oscar for the first time, receiving international acclaim and a nomination for Best Live Action Short Film at the 93rd Academy Awards.

Elvira's latest release is the 2025 documentary King Hamlet, capturing her husband's preparation to play the titular character in the Public Theatre's production of the play back in 2017. In 2019, Elvira and Oscar co-founded the production company Mad Gene Media, and they're now collaborating on the upcoming TV series Stowaway.

Elvira and Oscar's relationship

Elvira and Oscar met back in 2012 at an industry party, just a year before he would break into the public eye with his role in Inside Llewyn Davis. But they didn't go red carpet official until three years later, attending the SXSW premiere of Ex Machina in 2015 (pictured above).

In 2017, just as Oscar's mom dealt with a terminal illness that would take her life soon after, the couple tied the knot in a last minute ceremony held on their rooftop, attended only by a few friends and their dog, which was depicted in King Hamlet.

Oscar's two sons

Elvira was pregnant with their first child when the couple tied the knot. In April of 2017, they welcomed their first son, Eugene (now nine), named after Oscar's late mother Eugenia. In October 2019, they welcomed their second son, Mads (now six).

Speaking with Fatherly, Oscar commented on how fatherhood will now influence the roles he takes on, specifically Moon Knight. "What led me to actually taking it on was that I started doing the characters for my 4-year-old."

"And he was laughing so much and having such a good time that it was a good indicator that this was something that I wanted to do," he recalled. "There is something really lovely doing something where you feel that this can be part of my family."
