Blake Lively has alleged that a "mean girl" smear campaign by Justin Baldoni and Wayfarer Productions has led to nearly $300 million in lost earnings and potential income. In new court documents filed on April 17, the actress claimed that she suffered a loss of "approximately $36.5 to $40.5 million" as a result of Justin's alleged use of "the retaliatory phrases 'tone deaf,' 'bully,' and 'mean girl'".
Drawing on analysis from her expert, Dr. Ashlee Humphreys, Blake further alleged that "retaliatory" remarks made by Bryan Freedman during the It Ends With Us dispute have resulted in additional losses totalling $24,375,267.
Blake argued that her estimated damages lie somewhere between $34.3 million to $87.8 million from between August 2024 and August 2029. As for her companies, Betty Booze and Blake Brown, the actress claimed she experienced a loss ranging between $39.6 million and $143.5 million in profits.
The star is seeking between $250,000 and $400,000 for the "pain and suffering, physical pain, and humiliation" she experienced as a result of the alleged smear campaign. However in her November 2025 claim, she alleged that the smear campaign cost her $161 million. She is now arguing for over $290 million in damages. According to Celebrity Net Worth, Blake's net worth is estimated to be approximately $30 million. Her husband, Ryan Reynolds' net worth is estimated to be worth $350 million.
Justin's attorneys have responded to the court claim, sharing that Blake being called a "'mean girl,' 'bully,' difficult to work with or 'tone deaf'" online "did not cause further harm to her existing reputation". They argued that the accusations around her character "were widely circulated before Lively" began working with either party.
A judge dismissed 10 out of the 13 claims, including sexual harassment and defamation allegations, she made against her It Ends With Us co-star and director Justin Baldoni.
While these claims were dismissed on April 2, the other three allegations of breach of contract, retaliation, and aiding and abetting in retaliation will go to a civil trial, set to take place in New York on May 18
The lawsuit arises from alleged incidents on the set of It Ends With Us, with Blake accusing Justin of overstepping professional boundaries. Her claims include that he improvised a kiss in an unscripted scene, entered her trailer while she was breastfeeding, and that a producer showed her a video of his wife giving birth.
