Demi Moore is letting her fans in on her "life-changing" secret to maintaining a youthful appearance at 63.
The actress, who has been named one of the new global ambassadors for Lancôme, admitted that prioritizing "daily acts of self-care" has made a significant impact on her age-defying looks.
"I've become very intentional about my evening routine," she told Elle. "Taking the time to truly transition from the chaos of the day into a state of rest has been life-changing, and part of that is doing my skin care.
"It's the small, daily acts of self-care that lead to the most enduring results."
She added: "Lately for me, I've come to view longevity as sort of an alignment. I say a lot now that it's not about the amount of time; it's about the quality of time you have.
"Aging is a gift, and longevity helps you to thrive as you age, to really invest in your future. And with Longevity MD from Lancôme, I've been using the Reset Cream for a few months now.
"It feels like I'm investing in the future of my skin and really supporting it from within."
Demi also admitted that starring in the 2024 film The Substance, which won her an Oscar nomination, reinforced her love of skincare.
The film tells the story of Demi's character Elisabeth Sparkle, a fading celebrity deemed to be past her prime by a vicious TV executive, who decides to use a black-market drug – a cell-replicating substance – that temporarily creates a younger, better version of herself.
The movie delves deep into the lengths people will go to recapture their youth and the violence they inflict upon themselves in the process.
"Filming The Substance was a very intense, visceral experience that really highlighted the dangers of self-judgment," she explained.
"The most beautiful thing we can do is care for ourselves with kindness. I've viewed wellness and skincare as an act of gratitude, but this experience helped underscore that. I want to use products that work with my skin to help it stay resilient and healthy."
Demi's role in The Substance has been hailed as one of the most daring and transformative performances of her career.
Speaking about the film's raw and powerful themes at the Screen Actors Guild Awards last February, Demi described it as "an exploration of the violence that we have against ourselves."
"We can be so violent and brutal against ourselves," she shared. "That was the most new and, for me, the most rewarding and captivating [experience], and brought about the most liberation at the end of this."
Demi has been candid about the emotional toll that filming The Substance took on her, especially as it confronted themes of ageism, self-worth, and reinvention – subjects that resonate deeply in an industry obsessed with youth.
Reflecting on one particularly harrowing scene in which her character repeatedly applies and removes her makeup in front of a mirror, she admitted it was one of the most difficult moments to film.
"That scene broke me," she told Page Six at The Gotham Film Awards last January. "It was one of the most heart-wrenching moments in the film."
