Jennifer Hudson added a touch of glitz to her sartorial agenda as she stepped out for the 51st AFI Life Achievement Award: A Tribute To Eddie Murphy at Dolby Theatre over the weekend.
Styled by Kellen Richards, the singer wore a black sequin dress by Sergio Hudson. The garment featured a high neck, long sleeves, and a midi cut with a figure hugging silhouette. For a risque edge, it boasted a thigh-high slit which revealed Jennifer's sheer black stockings beneath. The outfit was accessorised with black Larroudé pointed-toe heels and LEVIEV Diamonds jewelry.
Jennifer's luscious locks were styled in a half-up half-down look while her makeup oozed soft glam, courtesy of a shimmery eye and a glossy lip. The star took to Instagram on April 22 to share a series of photographs of her scene-stealing look. In the caption, she penned: "@americanfilminstitute An incredible night honoring the incomparable Eddie Murphy. I cannot wait for yal to see this special tribute to my friend!"

In August last year, Jennifer opened up about her busy work schedule with Interview Magazine. "I feel like sometimes we’re not allowed to say we're tired because people think we're ungrateful. It’s like, "No, no, no. I appreciate what I do." But sometimes we need a little reset and a little rest. That don't mean we’re complaining," she said.

"It’s like reintroducing yourself to yourself. I love to get up, have my little sip of coffee, and sit here and hear the birds chirping. That’s how I want to start my day. And then I want to set my mind. I love affirmations. What do I want this day to be? And I don’t like no day where I can’t achieve something. But right now, I just want to sit here. To me, that is the definition of a real off-day. Or to have the liberty to say, 'You know what? Right now, I’ll do whatever the hell I want.'"
