Kelly admitted that juggling being a single mother and a working actress was extremely difficult ,and she often made the hard decision of putting her career on the back burner.

She recalled to People: "Like Katharine Hepburn said, 'You can be a wife, a mother or an actor, but you can only be two of the three.' That definitely happened [to me]. I would just say no to things to be with Shane."

One of the roles that she rejected was the lead character in Basic Instinct, however, if she could turn back time, she wouldn't change a thing.

She expressed: "As interesting and titillating as I thought that movie was, with a kid you just make different decisions. But I don't regret a bit of that."
