Move over, "Expresso", there is a new family revelation brewing that has The Simpsons fans doing a double-take.
While pop star Sabrina Carpenter has been dominating the global charts with her hits, it turns out she isn't the only one in her family with vocal talent.
The "Please Please Please" singer is linked to one of the most famous voices in television history, as her aunt is Nancy Cartwright, the woman behind Bart Simpson.
Ay Caramba!
The news sent shockwaves through social media after Nancy, who has voiced the mischievous 10-year-old for over 35 years, confirmed the relationship.
While they're not blood relatives, Nancy explained their relationship during an episode of Toon’d In with Jim Cummings: "Her grandmother was married to my dad," she said. "So her dad was my stepbrother."
This essentially makes Nancy, Sabrina's step-aunt.
A family of icons
While Sabrina is currently the "it girl" of pop, Nancy is a certified legend in the voice-acting world.
Beyond Bart, she is the voice of several other characters on The Simpsons including Maggie Simpson and her iconic pacifier sucks, Ralph Wiggum, Nelson Muntz, Ted Flanders, Kearney Zxyxwicz and Database.
She's also voiced Chuckie Finster in Rugrats and Rufus on Kim Possible.
A boost to Sabrina's stardom
Nancy recently revealed that she saw Sabrina’s potential from a very young age. Speaking on the podcast, she said she gave her niece a "boost" early on, but emphasized that the singer's success is all her own doing.
“I met her when she was eight” she told the host. “Her folks brought the three girls out to my house, and they stayed with us because she was interested in her dream was to do everything Disney. She wanted a Disney contract, and she said, ‘I want to do that’ since she was six years old.
"They would come out every year and stay with me. They lived with me for four months at a time during pilot season and helped her get management [and an] agent.”
Nancy added: “She can do it all. She certainly doesn't need my help. I gave her a little boost and she ran with it, and I'm very proud of her. Look at her now. She's just flying.”
Sabrina's childhood
Sabrina Carpenter was born in Quakertown, Pennsylvania, and raised in East Greenville, Pennsylvania. She grew up in a rural area of the state and was homeschooled before moving to Los Angeles at the age of 13 to pursue her career.
