Mark Consuelos proved just how competitive he can be during the May 20 installment of Live with Kelly and Mark. The couple enjoyed a round of their favorite game Stump Mark and were joined by Lisa Best of Chattanooga, Tennessee. The game revolves around Mark determining which of a player's two personal statements is true and which is false.
The first of Lisa's stories involved participating in Dolly Day Festival, while the other centred on performing at the Grand Ole Opry as part of a clogging team in seventh grade. In the show's Instagram poll, 79% of viewers believed the Dolly Day story, while 21% thought she had performed at the Opry.
"I don't know, I was thinking the opposite. This is tough," Mark said. "I'm having a record May."
Mark continued: "I'm going to do something that may ruffle some feathers, but I'm going to do it." The host proceeded to ask Lisa if she had children. When she shared that she did, he asked: "Do you swear on your kids that you participated in the Dolly Day Festival?"
"Mark! What?!" replied Lisa. "What!" Kelly Ripa said to her husband. "Do not, no."
"No, no. I'm doing it!" replied Mark. "You are not! You are not doing it. Lisa, you do not have to answer that question," said Kelly. The ABC continued to tell off her husband for his question. "What kind of a monster are you!" she asked Mark, who defended himself by saying, "I want to win!"
"They are horrified!" Ripa said, pointing to the crowd. "People are gagged! They are shocked! They are outraged!"
Mark said "a couple of people" agreed with him, and that he could see "the side eye" coming his way from the audience. The host then guessed that the Grand Ole Opry story was a lie. "You're wrong!" revealed Lisa. "And that's what you get Mark," added Kelly.
"Wow. I guess the old adage, 'God will get you back!'" said Mark. "God will get you back!" repeated Kelly.
Mark Consuelos on LIVE
Mark – who shares kids Michael, Lola, and Joaquin, with his wife – joined LIVE! officially in 2023 following Ryan's departure. Ryan left the show due to the demands of traveling back and forth between his home in Los Angeles and the studio in New York, as well as his desire to focus on other projects.
Kelly has previously revealed that she and Mark were initially hesitant about sharing the spotlight together. In an interview on the Not Skinny But Not Fat podcast, Kelly admitted that Mark had a surprising reaction when he was first offered the permanent role on ABC. "It was really about convincing Mark," she explained. "Because initially when they came to Mark, he flat out refused."
