The Today family is expanding. During Carson Daly's PopStart segment on the NBC show on May 21, he revealed he had a "big" exclusive.
As he kept the best for the last, Craig Melvin commented: "This is big."
Carson then revealed: "We've added a new member to our PopStart team. That's because our longtime producer Emily, who works tirelessly on this segment, had her first baby."
Adelina Josephine Szczerepa was born eight pounds, 15 ounces and 21 inches at 10:47p.m. on Tuesday evening.
He continued: "Mom and baby girl are happy and healthy. Congrats to Em and of course, her husband Dave and Adelina."
Savannah Guthrie got emotional about the exciting news and revealed her personal connection to Emily.
She recalled: "You know Emily is such a doll and she used to babysit my kids when they were really little, like 10 years ago."
The TV star gushed: "She's gonna be a great mommy." Dylan Dreyer inquired: "Are you gonna offer to babysit?"
Savannah replied: "You know I love to hold a baby, or my daughter can." Jenna Bush Hageradded: "Full circle," as Craig continued: "Welcome to the party Ada."
Savannah is a doting mother to her daughter Vale, born in 2014, and her son Charley, born in 2016, whom she welcomed into the world with her husband Michael Feldman.
Savannah's take on having children later on in life
Savannah previously opened up about what it's really like giving birth twice in her forties and shared insight into the experience on Today's blog, writing: "I'm 42 years old, and I honestly didn't know if I'd ever get this chance. I've never been more thankful or felt more blessed from above. I know how lucky I am. For a long time, I think I was afraid to even let myself think about how much I hoped to one day have a baby. So that's my mindset as my hubby and I embark on this adventure."
Savannah's childbirth journey
The doting mother gave birth to her firstborn naturally, however, she used IVF to conceive her second child. She was publicly open about undergoing two rounds of IVF treatments because she wanted her daughter to have a sibling.
Everything went successfully and she welcomed Charley into the world and called him a "medical miracle," per Health Magazine.
She revealed: "We're so blessed. Going through what we did, it makes you realize that everything has to go just right to have a healthy baby. I really feel for so many women who are struggling and wishing and wondering, 'When's it gonna be my turn?' I know. And I understand."
How motherhood affected Savannah
Motherhood immensely reinvigorated Savannah's Christian faith, and she continually finds purpose through her parenting experience.
She shared on Ann Voskamp's blog: "Motherhood. What a revelation. Physically. Emotionally. Intellectually. And yes, spiritually. I can think of no other experience that has more enhanced my understanding of God."
