Actor Shia LaBeouf is facing new legal trouble after being formally charged in connection with an alleged altercation that took place during Mardi Gras celebrations in New Orleans earlier this year.
According to court records filed on Thursday, May 21 2026, the 39-year-old actor has been charged with three counts of simple battery stemming from an incident that allegedly unfolded outside a bar in February.
The charges were filed by the Orleans Parish District Attorney’s Office and were obtained by local outlets WWL and NOLA.com. All three misdemeanor counts relate to an alleged confrontation involving multiple individuals during Mardi Gras festivities on February 17.

During a hearing held later that month, the Transformers star was reportedly ordered to enroll in substance abuse treatment, undergo regular drug testing and post a $100,000 bond as conditions of his release. Court records indicate he later posted bond and remains out of custody under the updated conditions.
Details surrounding the alleged altercation were outlined in a New Orleans Police Department report previously obtained by People.

Investigators allege Shia later returned and became involved in a second confrontation, during which he allegedly struck the same person again and assaulted another individual before officers arrived.
Video obtained by TMZ appeared to show the shirtless actor receiving treatment from paramedics outside the venue following the alleged altercation.

Shia, who rose to fame through projects including Even Stevens, Transformers and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, has faced a number of highly publicised legal and personal struggles over the years.
