Demi Moore is reportedly mourning the heartbreaking loss of one of her closest companions. The actress's beloved chihuahua, Pilaf, has died at the age of five, according to reports, leaving the Hollywood star devastated.
For years, the tiny dog was a constant presence by Demi's side, accompanying her almost everywhere she went. Whether attending glamorous red-carpet premieres, sitting front row at fashion shows or traveling around the world, Pilaf was rarely far from her famous owner.
The special bond between the pair became well known among fans, with Demi frequently sharing photos and videos of her pint-sized companion on social media. But according to a report from the Daily Mail, Pilaf has passed away aged just five, leaving her owner devastated.
Pilaf had not appeared on the actress's Instagram account since March, prompting concern among followers who had become accustomed to seeing the tiny chihuahua featured regularly in Demi's posts.
The dog, who reportedly weighed just 1.5 pounds at birth, quickly became a celebrity in her own right. With her permanently protruding tongue and tiny frame, Pilaf captured hearts around the world and amassed a devoted following online.
Demi previously explained that Pilaf's tongue hung out because she had lost the teeth that once held it in place. "It's part of her charm," the actress said. "She's the runt of her litter, she's a magical creature," Demi said during an interview on The Tonight Show.
The actress was so attached to Pilaf that she admitted she felt "naked" without her in her arms. The Chihuahua frequently accompanied her on flights as an emotional support animal and joined her at some of entertainment's biggest events.
Among Pilaf's most memorable appearances was a trip to Royal Ascot in 2023, where she was carried in a cream-colored sling that perfectly complemented Demi's elegant outfit.
The pampered pooch also attended the opening night of Nicole Scherzinger's Broadway production of Sunset Boulevard and appeared alongside Demi on programs including The Graham Norton Show and The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
The Chihuahua's fame reached new heights in 2024 when she appeared on the cover of Vogue's special dog-themed issue, dubbed "Dogue."
During an interview for the magazine, Demi reflected on their extraordinary connection. "She was meant to be with me, and I was meant to be with her," she said.
