Jennifer Lopez looked absolutely amazing on the set of her new Netflix rom-com, Office Romance, proving age is just a number when it comes to her health.

It’s no secret that the mum of two - who turns 57 next month - has an intense workout regime. She regularly shares snippets on social media, as well as the incredible choreographed dance routines she practises for events such as her Superbowl Sunday performance - and her flawless bikini body is proof she works hard.

"I am 100 percent convinced that working out is part of what makes me so happy," she told Best Quality Designer Handbag  back in 2016. "Dance has always been a huge part of my life and taking the time to move my body and do something that's so good for me is key to my happiness."

The film, starring Ted Lasso actor Brett Goldstein as her work-place love interest, has sparked intense conversation far beyond the boardroom banter, forbidden workplace tension, and undeniable charm of a classic rom-com revival.

The conversation is perhaps more appropriately concerned with what is unsaid: Jennifer plays a desirable romantic lead at 56, and her age isn’t even mentioned.

In the past, Hollywood has relegated women of a certain age to the background as mothers or quirky aunts, but in this instance, the Puerto Rican star stands front and centre as an unmarried woman with no kids and no apologies.

The role is apt for a figure who has championed the dismantling of false narratives surrounding women and ageing for years. And it is not for lack of hard work that she has earned her incredible definition.

She recently shared with Extra that the key to maintaining her athletic figure was consistency.  "You know that you're gonna be on-screen…You gotta be prepared…in the gym and eating right," she told the outlet. "It's about eating healthy and eating the right things and working out and being consistent. I say these things all the time."

As a role model for women of all ages,  the "Get on the Floor" singer has clearly maintained her incredible figure well into her 50s, and shared on CBS Mornings how she switched up her workouts when entering middle age.

"I think I've gotten good at working out what I need to work out without killing myself. I think when I was younger, I was like doing all the things and like, working so hard. And now, I work smarter, not harder," she said. "That's what my trainers and I think about a lot. It's like, I have 40 minutes for you right now, and we need to maximize that – and we do."

Crucially, the actress and singer does not substitute time with her loved ones for the sake of fitness, sharing with HELLO!, "I'm a very social person and love spending time with my friends and family, so when we go out to eat I try to make healthy choices. Most restaurants offer healthy meals, so I watch for things on the menu that fit my lifestyle."

The star is most definitely a pillar of empowerment for midlife women who may not think it possible to have it all. As J.Lo reminds us, even after a particularly difficult time in her marriage to ex-husband Ben Affleck in 2024, it is the cumulative life experiences of women in their 50s that make them vastly more compelling.
