Alan Osmond, the beloved star and eldest brother in the 1970s musical group The Osmonds, sadly passed away on 20 April after a battle with multiple sclerosis.
The star, who was 76 at the time of his passing, was best known for lending his vocals to tracks including 'Love Me For A Reason' and 'Crazy Horses' in the famous family band, but off-stage, he was a husband to Suzanne Pinegar Osmond and a father to eight children.
Who was Alan Osmond married to?
The late star, who hailed from Ogden, Utah, married Suzanne back in 1974 in the Provo, Utah Temple, having met shortly beforehand during their days at Brigham Young University.
Though Alan and Suzanne kept a low profile while the singer navigated MS, they were passionate about raising awareness for the condition. In 2000, he received the Dorothy Corwin Spirit of Life Award from the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and previously revealed that he lived by the motto: "I may have MS, but MS does NOT have me."
In July 2025, Alan took to Instagram to share a selfie with his wife with his fans. The post was captioned with verse from the Book of Mormon reading: "Yea, he that repenteth and exerciseth faith, and bringeth forth good works, and prayeth continually without ceasing—unto such it is given to know the mysteries of God; yea, unto such it shall be given to reveal things which never have been revealed; yea, and it shall be given unto such to bring thousands of souls to repentance, even as it has been given unto us to bring these our brethren to repentance."
A proud father of eight children
Together, the couple welcomed eight sons: Michael, Nathan, Doug, David, Scott, Jon, Alex, and Tyler. Their 46-year-old son, David, inherited his father's star quality, having performed on Broadway and as the lead singer of The Osmonds 2nd Generation.
Unfortunately, David also has MS. "I remember as a kid when my dad told us that he had something called MS," David told Yahoo Lifestyle in 2019. "We saw him start to decline physically."
Of his own condition, David added: "I'll be honest, right now I'm in a massive amount of pain. And it's all over the place, but I don’t dare complain about it."
It is through David and his brothers that Alan became a grandfather to 29 and a great-grandfather to three.
