Mika Abdalla, the American actress who has recently shot to fame after starring in Prime Video's Off Campus, has parted ways with her fiancé, fellow actor Jake Short, according to recent reports.

The couple first met on the set of Hulu's Sex Appeal in 2021 and then started dating. Four years after they met, Jake popped the question, and their engagement news was shared in a post on Instagram.

Now, a representative for Mika has confirmed to Us Weekly that the former couple are no longer engaged but have remained on good terms. "Due to recent interest in Mika's personal life, it would feel remiss to not address that her and Jake are no longer together," a spokesperson for Mika told the publication.

"They continue to support each other and remain on friendly terms, and kindly ask for privacy and respect."  The pair were last seen looking more than loved up while attending a basketball game together.

The show must go on

News of Mika's split has come just one day after season two of the Prime Video show started filming.

The second series of the show, based on the best-selling books by Elle Kennedy, will star Mika as Allie and her co-star Stephen Kalyn as her love interest, Dean Di Laurentis.

Season 2 of Off Campus will explore Allie and Dean's love story

Talking about filming the second series, she told the publication back in May: "I'm just really looking forward to digging deeper into who Allie and Dean are. They both kind of have these fronts, these personas that are hard to kind of crack through. They are kind of stereotypes of themselves, if that makes sense. But in the books, there's so much beneath the surface of Dean, and there’s so much beneath the surface of Allie.”

Mika continued: "When it is time for our season, I’m excited to dig emotionally into that a little bit more. [We] see Allie and Dean as their exteriors a lot in season one. And while that is fun, and they are super fun characters to play, I think as actors, selfishly, both of us are really excited to, like, get psychological."

Mika said she is excited 'to get more psychological' in the upcoming season

While she may be going through heartbreak, at least, Mika admits she will be surrounded by her "best friends", how she referred to her fellow castmates in the wake of series one.

Mike told the Hollywood Reporter in May: "I'm also so grateful for the way that I get to be going into this season. We've been doing press for the last three weeks. I’m with genuinely my best friends."

Mika described being with her castmates is like being with her 'best friends'

"Belmont (Cameli) and Ella (Bright) are both so incredible and so wise and they did such an amazing job carrying this first season.

"They did such a great job setting an example of how to be the leads and how to hold a set and how to hold yourself in an environment where there are so many of us. It's a huge ensemble cast and they just did such an amazing job being our beacons of energy."
