As a celebrity nutritionist who has already delved into the fridges of the designer and King Charles's goddaughter India Hicks, and the TV chef Lorraine Pascale as part of HELLO!'s Don’t Judge Me series, GP Nutrition founder Gabriela Peacock understands the value of a balanced diet. For Gabriela, 46, great food improves our energy levels, sleep and mood. It's part of her philosophy that feeling good on the inside is key to looking good on the outside.

Don't Judge Me's latest guest certainly understands the art of looking good. Amanda Wakeley, 63, was behind some of Princess Diana's most iconic Nineties outfits and has built a reputation as an icon of British fashion. Her clean-cut styles have been worn by the actresses Catherine Zeta Jones and Scarlett Johansson, and even by Diana's daughter-in-law, the Princess of Wales.

She has also successfully broken into the podcast space as the host of StyleDNA, where she uncovers the personal style journeys of her celebrity guests, including the singer Sophie Ellis Bextor and fellow fashion maven Karen Millen. As Gabriela steps into Amanda's riverside home in Chelsea – which she shares with the entrepreneur Hugh Morrison, her partner of 20 years – and opens the fridge in the minimalist grey kitchen, it's clear that the designer's dietary habits are as refined as her sartorial tastes.

Straight away, she spots Super Sprouts. Amanda credits the nutritionist with getting her into them. "They activate enzymes that would otherwise be inactive, so by sprouting the grain, you have a much higher nutritional status," Gabriela explains. Amanda also has radishes in her fridge – part of her endeavour to consume 30 fruits and vegetables per week – and she earns high praise from Gabriela for stocking rocket. The designer says she is addicted to the salad leaf, which stimulates digestive enzymes.

Amanda's fridge is stocked full of goodness

She keeps sachets of protein powder in stock to support her fitness regime, which has had an overhaul in recent years. After completing an extraordinary ski mountaineering expedition to Antarctica with her partner and friends in 2022, she ditched the Peloton bike for dog walks and lifting weights. "I have been trying to hit the weights two or three times a week, so I try to have a protein smoothie before doing it," she says.

The nutritionist approves: "If you put carbohydrates and proteins together, especially carbohydrates which are high in fibre, they will slow down the release of the sugar into your bloodstream, create these stable energy levels and balance your blood sugar levels."

Though Amanda impresses the nutritionist with the healthy contents of her fridge, it doesn't mean she avoids a treat. The real eyebrow-raiser for Gabriela is the ultra-processed Ovomaltine milk chocolate. "You'll have to ask Mr Morrison about that," Amanda laughs, revealing her partner's sweet tooth. "He bulk-buys that in Switzerland. It's a lot of sugar."

Amanda's own chocolate preferences get the seal of approval from Gabriela, who recommends eating chocolate with a cocoa percentage of 60 per cent or above. "Anything higher than 90 per cent I find a bit too gritty," Amanda says: "Anything lower than 85 per cent I find too sweet."

The designer doesn't make excuses when it comes to the bottle of vodka in her fridge, laughing as Gabriela holds it above her head. The nutritionist reveals that clean spirits aren't all that bad for you, and Amanda has vowed to stay off ultraprocessed food – bar bacon butties, her "ultimate hangover cure", that is.
