Dua Lipa was always going to be the ultimate cool girl bride. The 30-year-old singer surprised fans with her low key nuptials at Marylebone Town Hall on Sunday, as she wed her fiancé of one year, actor Callum Turner.

The global pop superstar forgoed a traditional fairytale gown in favour of a custom Schiaparelli couture two-piece designed by Daniel Roseberry, immediately setting her apart from a sea of celebrity brides and quite possibly cementing her status as one of the most influential bridal fashion moments in recent years.

The couple will reportedly host a larger celebration in Sicily following their London civil ceremony, where a headline-making gown is expected to make an appearence. But for now, Dua joins the likes of  Bianca Jagger and Amal Clooney, with her striking vintage-inspired tailored look that instantly captured the fashion world's attention.

The ivory Schiaparelli design was a sophisticated interpretation of bridal tailoring, comprising a sharply cut blazer with personalised gold buttons and an elegant asymmetric skirt that balanced structure with softness. Instead of leaning into the romantic conventions of lace, tulle and embellishment, Dua embraced a cleaner, more directional aesthetic. It was vintage-inspired, undeniably chic and everything I'd expect from the same girl who has repeatedly championed Schiaparelli's sculptural couture creations at fashion week and on the red carpet.

The outfit was quickly met with comparisons to Bianca Jagger's iconic - and at the time controversial - 1971 Yves Saint Laurent skirt suit, which is now one of the most celebrated untraditional bridal outfits in history.

Like Bianca, Dua demonstrated the enduring power of tailoring and proved that femininity isn't defined by volume or embellishment. Instead, confidence is the ultimate accessory. I interviewed Dua early in her career back in 2017, and she has always had it in droves. The Jagger reference felt particularly appropriate given her appreciation for vintage glamour and her ability to reinterpret archival fashion for a new generation.

Dua accessorised with a dramatic Stephen Jones hat, its oversized brim offering a cinematic quality reminiscent of 1970s jet set glamour, completing the look with pristine white gloves and towering Christian Louboutin heels. Jewellery came courtesy of Bvlgari, with her couture ensemble offset with dazzling diamonds, including the house's iconic Serpenti design, creating a glamourous contrast against the pared back tailoring.

What makes her look so significant is how perfectly it reflects the broader shift currently taking place in bridal fashion. Today's luxury bride is increasingly seeking individuality over tradition, favouring personal style over convention. Dua's wedding ensemble captured that mood effortlessly. It was glamorous without being predictable, romantic without being overtly feminine, and luxurious without relying on excess.

The look also speaks to Schiaparelli's remarkable cultural relevance under Daniel Roseberry's creative direction. Long favoured by fashion risk takers, he took the helm in 2019 and it has become the label of choice for women who want to make a statement. With the house currently enjoying a major moment in the spotlight, including a landmark exhibition at London's Victoria & Albert Museum, for Dua to choose the label for such a personal milestone feels entirely fitting.

Rather than transforming into a different version of herself for her wedding day, she leaned into the fashion sensibility that has made her one of the most watched women in style. The result was a bridal moment that felt authentic, modern, and destined to inspire countless brides for years to come.
