Jacob Elordi has become synonymous with impeccably tailored style – and at 1.96m tall, it's hard for clothes not to look good on him. Lately, he's cemented his status as a fashion muse, dominating everyone's sartorial agendas. But where does Jacob himself turn for inspiration? Surprisingly, the answer comes from an unexpected source: none other than Michelle Obama.
It seems the duo are both big fans of Matthieu Blazy's takeover at Chanel as they respectively stepped out in the same jacket only a few months apart. Styled by Meredith Koop, who co-authored The Look, Michelle graced the stage at the People Inc. event in New York City on November 5. The former First Lady wore a custom wool-check suit from Matthieu Blazy's debut spring/summer 2026 Chanel collection that featured a cropped jacket adorned with gold buttons and matching pleat-front trousers.
The ensemble was plucked from Look One of the show and was worn as it was intended – blazer open and styled with a simple white t-shirt underneath and a pair of two-tone cream and black Chanel heels.
The Chanel tweed jacket feels newly invigorated under Matthieu Blazy's tenure, as he builds on the enduring codes that have long defined the house under Karl Lagerfeld and Virginie Viard. Reimagined with a sleek, contemporary edge, it perfectly complements Michelle Obama's sartorial sensibility – spanning bold colour statements and cosy knits to elegant chiffon gowns and refined A-line silhouettes.
However, the jacket has now found its way into menswear – whether by design or not. Jacob Elordi wore the Chanel piece at the Los Angeles photocall for his upcoming film Wuthering Heights. Leaning into method dressing, the look carried a vintage sensibility, offset by a distinctly modern approach: the jacket layered over a simple black T-shirt, paired with semi-wide white trousers, a black Chanel belt, and Celine loafers.
The Look was published on November 4. "Beautifully illustrated with more than 200 photographs, including never-before-seen images, The Look is a stunning journey through Michelle Obama's style evolution, in her own words for the first time," reads the synopsis. "In this celebration of style, from the moment she entered the public eye during her husband's U.S. Senate campaign through her time as the first Black First Lady of the United States and today as one of the country’s most influential figures, Michelle Obama shares how she uses the beauty and intrigue of fashion to draw attention to her message."
