Queen Rania of Jordan was a picture of winter elegance on Saturday, 7 February, as she stepped out with her husband, King Abdullah, during their state visit to Turkey. The Kuwaiti-born Jordanian royal, 55, looked so chic as she opted for a stylish coat for a meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and First Lady Amina Erdogan at Dolmabahçe Palace.

The royal opted for the 'Wool Curved Coat' by ALAÏA, as identified by Royal Fashion Police on Instagram, which retails for £4,100. The sculpted piece featured dramatic, rounded shoulder pads, as well as long sleeves, a cinched silhouette, and three asymmetrical buttons running down one side for extra visual flair.

For her accessories, Queen Rania opted for a range of designer pieces. She chose the 'Peekaboo Essentially Small Nappa Leather Handbag in Khaki' by Fendi to tie in with the rich green hue of her skirt, as well as the 'Carolyn 90 Embellished Leather Pumps' by Jimmy Choo and the 'Green Swan Slim Sunglasses' by Loewe.

Winter style – in pastels

The outing came after Queen Rania took to Instagram on 30 January to issue a special message. "So proud of the man you've become. Happiest birthday, my dearest Hashem," Rania penned, addressing her youngest son on his 21st birthday.

In the photo that she shared featuring Prince Hashem, Rania wore a pair of sky blue trousers with a printed blouse in shades of powder blue and pink. On the same day, she posted a photo featuring her husband to mark his 64th birthday, which also falls on 30 January.

Here, she teamed a white skirt with a soft pink pointelle cardigan by Alessandra Rich featuring a collar and gold buttons. Of her choices to wear pastel colours in winter, Laura Sutcliffe, HELLO!'s Fashion and Beauty News Editor, said: "Pastels are a great colourway for women to sport as they get older, as they brighten up the skin in seconds. Wearing a pastel shade like a shirt or cardigan that sits near your face reflects soft light upwards and gives the wearer a luminous, lit-from-within glow."
