Peter Phillips cut a suave figure at Cheltenham 2026 on Friday, wearing a toffee-coloured suit complete with a matching trilby hat. Zara Tindall's brother was accompanied by his stunning fiancée, Harriet Sperling, who looked impossibly chic in her white and black checked dress coat.
Looking the picture of elegance, the 45-year-old wore one of the most striking looks we've seen at the famous Cotswold festival this year.
Nodding to the tailored fashion ethos often associated with Cheltenham, the NHS nurse sported a dress coat by Suzannah London, which is part of the brand's current collection, and priced at £2,550.
Known as the 'Winchester', it was made in wool check tweed and boasted a fitted, tailored bodice with slim, elegant sleeves and a high collar, as well as a beautiful knife-pleated skirt. Decorated with black leather buttons, the item made a feminine style statement.
Coordinating her look with striking accessories, the mother-of-one wore a 3D floral hat by Jane Taylor, earrings by Kiki McDonough, boots by Penelope Chilvers and carried a cream, top-handled bag by Anya Hindmarch.
Harriet embraces Cheltenham style 'rules'
The royal family are regulars at the horse racing event and always dress in their outdoor finery. Although there are no official style regulations for the festival, everyone from Zara Tindall to Queen Camilla makes a statement with their attire.
British heritage style is a recurring theme, and tweed is a material that you often see in the stands, hence why Harriet may have invested in this look. "Tweed and wool simply work in that environment, especially at the mercy of the English weather," designer and creative director Amanda Wakeley OBE tells Best Quality Designer Handbag .
"You're outside for most of the day, often in unpredictable March winds, so fabrics that offer warmth and structure make perfect sense," she notes. "They also feel completely at home in the rural backdrop. A great tweed coat or a beautifully cut wool piece carries heritage, yet when the tailoring feels sharp, it never looks dated."
A dress coat like Harriet's is a key piece in any horse racing spectator's wardrobe. "It brings a contemporary edge to materials that traditionally belonged to country wardrobes, which keeps the whole outfit feeling fresh," the designer, who dressed the late Princess Diana, added.
