Nicole Curtis' comeback to HGTV was very short-lived.
Last summer, the HGTV star announced that her show Rehab Addict would finally be returning to the network after a three-year hiatus following a "devastating" setback that "rocked" her to her "core," she previously said.
The show officially returned for its ninth season in July, but just as more episodes were meant to air this week, HGTV swiftly canceled the series after its host was caught using a racial slur on camera.
On Wednesday, February 12, the same day Rehab Addict was set to return to HGTV, Radar Online shared a video of Nicole filming the show, and, while working on a renovation, using the n-word.
She is subsequently seen catching what she did, and asking producers and camera operators to "kill" the clip.
HGTV has since canceled Rehab Addict effective immediately, and moreover denounced Nicole's use of the racial slur in a statement to People.
The network maintained: "Not only is language like this hurtful and disappointing to our viewers, partners, and employees — it does not align with the values of HGTV."
"Accordingly, we have removed the series from all HGTV platforms. We remain dedicated to fostering a culture of respect and inclusion across our content and our workplace," they added.
Nicole has since also apologized for her use of the n-word, and, as part of a text chain with TMZ that she shared to her Instagram Stories, said: "I want to be clear: the word in question is wrong and not part of my vocabulary and never has been, and I apologize to everyone."
Her full statement to the outlet read: "Regarding HGTV, I'm grateful for the 15-year journey we've shared. It's been a meaningful chapter, but my focus isn't on my career. My focus, at this moment is rightfully on my relationships, and my community — the people who truly know my character and where my heart is."
"As discussed, I'm a mom and I was doing mom things all day unplugged," she continued. "I realize my shows were airing, but my family is my priority and I'm just catching up to all this now."
"There is more to this, but my family comes first and I need to be mom right now more than anything else," she later also wrote in her stories, adding: "I will take the time to be as I've always been with you, transparent and honest. TMZ called me as I had just turned my phone on after being at school — I said this briefly — but there is more."
