Midsomer Murders star Annette Badland has been cast in the star-studded adaptation of Giles Paley-Phillips' emotional bestseller, One Hundred and Fifty-Two Days.

The upcoming drama, which marks Outlander actress Rosie Day's directorial feature debut, also stars the likes of The Night Manager actor Alistair Petrie and Golden Globe nominee Roman Griffin-Davis (Jojo Rabbit).

For those who love a good tear-jerker, it's worth keeping an eye out for One Hundred and Fifty-Two Days. The film is based on a moving coming-of-age story about loss and grief, following a teenage boy who is prevented from seeing his terminally ill mother until he recovers from a bout of pneumonia. Plus, the heartbreaking tale is told by an impressive cast of British stars, while BAFTA-nominated producer Heather Greenwood, whose credits include the Gavin & Stacey: The Finale, is also on board.

What to expect from the film

Author Giles, who has co-written the screenplay with Elizabeth Morris (Above the Below), said adapting the novel for the screen has been a "deeply personal process". "I'm grateful to be collaborating with such an exceptional creative team to bring this story to life," said the writer.

Meanwhile, director Rosie described the film as a "timely story of grief, hope, and the power of human resilience". "One Hundred and Fifty-Two Days is a sucker punch to the heart, in all the best ways," she said.
