This is not a drill! Netflix's hit comedy-drama, Running Point, is finally back on our TV screens after over a year's wait – and if you've not yet tuned into the Kate Hudson-starring series, you're in for a treat!

Not only does the series boast a stellar cast list, which includes Brenda Song, Max Greenfield and Justin Theroux, but it's created by a seriously impressive team of writers.

The show is created by Mindy Kaling, who wrote and starred in comedy hits The Office and The Mindy Project, alongside Elaine Ko (Modern Family, Only Murders in the Building) and Ike Barinholtz and David Stassen, who also worked on The Mindy Project.

If, like me, you love light-hearted comedies like Ted Lasso and New Girl, it's worth checking out Running Point

Ahead of its return, find out all you need to know about season two below…

What is Running Point about?

The series follows LA executive Isla Gordon, who is unexpectedly appointed the head of her family's professional basketball team, the Los Angeles Waves. All she has to do is prove to her sceptical brothers, the board, and the larger sports community that she's the right woman for the job.

Season two is now available to stream on Netflix

How did season one end?

Season two picks up where season one left off, with the surprise return of Isla's older brother and ex-president Cam (Justin Theroux).

Season one's dramatic ending also saw Isla call time on her engagement to paediatrician Lev (Max Greenfield), and share a steamy kiss with Jay (Jay Ellis) just as he's about to take a new job in Boston.

What to expect from season two

In the new episodes, Isla is no longer the surprise choice to lead the Los Angeles Waves. With the franchise finally rebounding, Isla is determined to prove she's not simply her brother's replacement.

A synopsis reads: "What she doesn't know is that Cam is quietly manoeuvring behind the scenes to reclaim his post, turning every misstep into ammunition.

Viewers have hailed the show as a "must-watch"

"As she tries to balance the pressure of running a franchise with devoting time to her personal life, every decision on and off the court counts. To survive the family power plays and the scrutiny of the board, she’ll have to rip up last season’s game plan and come up with a whole new playbook if she wants to close out the season on top."

What have viewers said about Running Point?

Viewers have hailed the series as "excellent" and a "must-watch".

Taking to social media following the release of season one, one person wrote: "I just finished binge watching Running Point. It's really good. Everything written by #MindyKaling is excellent," while another added: "Enjoying #RunningPoint on @netflix starring Kate Hudson, a fantastic cast, great writers including Mindy Kaling so you know it’s excellent world building."

Both seasons of Running Point are available to stream on Netflix now.
