Charlize Theron has long been admired for her timeless beauty, but her latest revelation about how she maintains her youthful glow has left fans equal parts amused and bewildered.
Appearing on the Will and Woody podcast, the Oscar-winning actress, 50, was asked the question on everyone’s lips: how does she still look so incredible? What followed was a response that perfectly captured Charlize’s signature dry humour.
"Red light," she began, before cheekily adding, "that and the blood of a 19-year-old."
The unexpected comment immediately sent the hosts, and now fans online, into fits of laughter, with Charlize doubling down on the joke as the conversation continued. "Basically, I live in a red light mask at all times," she explained. "I will walk off the set and put a red… I just, I love them."
While her tongue-in-cheek reference to "the blood of a 19-year-old" had listeners doing a double take, it was her genuine endorsement of red light therapy that quickly became the real talking point.
"I think it’s the only thing I’ve done in the last two years that, more than any lotion or cream or anything like that, where I’ve been like, wow, I can actually see a difference," she shared.
The playful exchange didn’t stop there. "So get better genes, steal some blood from a 19-year-old… red light," she joked, as the hosts quipped about the inevitable shopping spree her comments might inspire. "All right, great. Thank you. I appreciate the $3,000 Amazon bill we’re about to rack up," the hosts joked.
Charlize not only looks young for age, but she also has an incredibly toned and fit body. Like so many stars and the internet's elite, Pilates is Charlize's workout of choice for achieving her toned, strong body shape.
She revealed that picking up the workout had "changed [her] body" and that she uses it as her form of movement during the day.
Charlize told Harper's Bazaar Australia: "I’m always calculating my activity. If I haven’t been moving a lot, I can’t eat a lot. Or maybe it’s a cheat day. But I’m honest with myself."
The Atomic Blonde star also revealed she does not drink alcohol and intentionally focuses her meals on leafy greens and a more plant-based approach.
She told Red in 2017: "I have juices and kale and green salads every day. When I’m eating healthily, getting enough sleep and not drinking alcohol, that’s when I look my best. That’s when I’m happiest, and I think it shows."
The star also adopts a grazing mindset to eating and rather prepares "six small meals per day" instead of three large ones. She admitted that she does indulge in things like burgers but will only "have a quarter of one".
