Halle Berry has gotten candid about becoming an empty nester in the near future.
The actress got vulnerable about her struggles with motherhood on Conan O'Brien Needs A Friend. She has two children - Nahla Ariela Aubry, 18, with her previous partner Gabriel Aubry, and Maceo-Robert Martinez, 12 with her ex-husband Oliver Martinez.
Halle expressed that she had the pleasure of recently shooting the film Crime 101 in Los Angeles, which was a perk for her because she "got to see [her] kids every night."
She added: "I'm about to go to France for work [so] I will not be seeing my kids every night, and that's what it's become."
The Catwoman star shared that "it's hard" for them to travel along with her because they have their own responsibilities, especially being that her daughter will turn 18 next month and is gearing up to leave for college.
Halle comically added: "She's like, 'no thank you mom.'" As for her 12-year-old, he's more open to coming along with her.
Conan O'Brien related to her phase of parenting with his own children, therefore, Halle sought out advice from him and candidly expressed that "it's tough and it's a huge adjustment." Conan is the proud father to Neve, 23, and Beckett, 21, with his wife Liza Powel.
The entertainer emphasized just how fast kids grow up and rhetorically asked: "How did it happen? It seems like just yesterday, she was this little thing, looking at me like I'm a jelly bean, and now I'm just like broccoli."
Halle continued: "It's hard to come to terms with. I don't know how to feel." The two parents related about being hyper-conscious regarding their adult children's whereabouts, despite their ages.
She added: "Just because you turn 18 – one day you're 17 and one day you're 18, so how much more do you know just because you turned 18? You're the same. So she is gonna be 18, and she's like, 'well I'm gonna do all these things that I wanna do now cause I'm 18.' You were just 17 the day before."
Halle expressed that regardless of what age your child is, you'll "always be the parent [and] It doesn't go away."
Although there are growing pains involved, the entertainer has previously explained that she's excited for her children's futures, despite its being bittersweet.
She shared during the roundtable event for her film Never Let Go: "[I] can't wait until they grow up and have their own life and I can't wait to see who they'll become and what they'll do. And even if it's not what I want them to do — I don't even know. I just want them to be them. There's no spin on it."
Halle added: "Anything they do will make me proud as long as they do it. I don't want them to stay home and stay stuck to me. I don't want them to depend on me. I hope I'm infusing them with enough gumption and giving them enough tools to out into the world and make their own way. Whatever that is, I'm going to be proud."
