Celebrations are in order for American tech giant Apple as the brand reaches an historic milestone and turns 50 years old.
Founded on 1 April, 1976 by Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak, and Ronald Wayne, what is now one of the most used brands was once a start-up in a Californian suburban garage, hoping to sell and develop personal computers.
Over the last five decades, the visionary company has enjoyed success of the highest order, along with some devastating blows, revolutionary rebrands and the death of one of its founders to pancreatic cancer in October 2011.
Steve was just 56 when he died from a respiratory arrest due to his tumour. He had resigned as CEO two months beforehand, in August, citing an inability to perform his duties because of his declining health. Tim Cook took the helm and has remained in charge ever since.
The infamous founder and marketer was survived by his wife, Laurene Powell Jobs, 62, and his four children: Reed, 34, Erin Siena, 30, Eve, 27, and Lisa, 47, whom he shared with his previous partner, Chrisann Brennan, 71.
It was revealed in the wake of his death that his children wouldn't directly inherit any of his multi-billion-dollar fortune, as he wanted them to become self-sufficient. As his legacy product survives past the semicentury mark, what are his children doing, and where are they now?
Lisa Brennan-Jobs
Steve welcomed 47-year-old Lisa with his former partner Chrisann, whom he dated on and off for around five years after initially meeting in the early 1970s when they were 17. The pair were high school sweethearts, and both lived in the Cupertino area of California.
Despite ending their romantic relationship in 1977, The Bite in the Apple author gave birth to their daughter in 1978 when they were both 23.
For the first part of Lisa's life, Steve denied he was her father, according to Lisa's memoir about her father, Small Fry, and only claimed her as his own following a DNA test in 1980.
The founder later expressed regret over his treatment of Lisa, saying in 2011: "I've done a lot of things I'm not proud of, such as getting my girlfriend pregnant when I was 23 and the way I handled that."
Now, Lisa is married to a software designer, named Bill and lives in Brooklyn with their son, Thomas. She moved to New York City after graduating from Harvard in 2000 to pursue writing and has written for Vogue, O, The Oprah Magazine, among others.
Reed Jobs
His first child and only son with his widow, Laurene, 34-year-old Reed, was born on 22 September 1991, just six months after his parents got married.
He graduated from Stanford University in 2014 with a bachelor's degree in history and international security and went on to achieve his master's degree in arts from the same university a year later.
Reed then began working as a managing director at Emerson Collective, his mom's organisation, which focuses on education, immigration reform, the environment, media and journalism, and health. He is also an investor at Yosemite, a cancer-focused venture firm, and helped found the firm.
Erin Siena Jobs
Erin is Steve's third child and second with Laurene. She was born on 19 August 1995 and, like her brother, prefers to keep a low profile, away from the spotlight of her father's legacy.
Author Walter Isaacson, who penned Steve's 2011 authorised biography, Steve Jobs, wrote that she has "a personal sensitivity more mature than her father's".
Speaking to Walter for the biography, Erin said of her dad: "He does his best to be both a father and the CEO of Apple, and he juggles those pretty well. Sometimes I wish I had more of his attention, but I know the work he's doing is very important, and I think it's really cool, so I'm fine. I don't really need more attention."
It has been previously reported that she studied architecture at Tulane University, and her social media presence is virtually non-existent.
Eve Jobs
Perhaps Steve's most public daughter, Eve, is somewhat of an influencer and made headlines when she married Olympian Harry Charles, 26, in July 2025.
The youngest Jobs child is a model and accomplished equestrian in her own right, regularly attending global fashion weeks and A-lister events, including the Met Gala and Vanity Fair Oscars afterparties.
She was born 9 July 9 1998, and was ranked fifth on the list of top 1,000 riders under 25 around the world, according to Horse Sport.
The Stanford University graduate made her debut as a model in December 2020, starring in Glossier's holiday ad campaign. She made her Paris Fashion Week debut in September 2021, walking for Coperni, and signed with DNA Model Management in March 2022.
Following her summer nuptials, Eve shared a black and white photo of herself in her dress next to Harry and added a caption that said: " We're married!!! It was the most magical week celebrating, and we have so many people to thank …"
