David Bradley celebrated his 84th birthday on Friday, and the legendary actor has appeared in some of the biggest British franchises, including as Argus Filch in the Harry Potter series and a recast version of the First Doctor in Doctor Who.
The star first broke onto the screen in 1971, when he played a policeman in an episode of Nearest and Dearest. He subsequently landed roles in ITV Sunday Night Theatre, King of the Ghetto, A Touch of Frost, Reckless, Wild West and Game of Thrones, where he played Walder Frey.
Over on the big screen, David has secured roles in Nicholas Nickleby, Exorcist: The Beginning, The World's End and Frankenstein, after making his debut in 1979's The Frisco Kid.
However, the star's proudest joy will no doubt be his three children, George, Francesca and a third who has remained out of the spotlight. His two eldest children followed the star into the world of showbusiness, with both managing to get roles in TV and film.

David's children
David's eldest child, George, has become a talented architect, and previously showed off his skills on TV. He previously worked with Alan Titchmarsh on Love Your Replica Luxury Handbag and Garden with Alan Titchmarsh, appearing between 2017 and 2018.
George runs the architecture firm Bradley Van Der Straeten alongside close friend Ewald Van Der Straeten, and speaking about appearing on the show, George said: "Working on the show with Alan Titchmarsh and the team has been a real privilege for us as architects."
He added: "We both believe in the power that good design has to change peoples' lives. To transform the homes of families who have faced consistent challenges and to be able to empower them, through their newly designed homes to achieve independence, happiness and increased well-being is why we do what we do."
Meanwhile, Francesca is a casting director, working on films like 6 Underground and the upcoming Masters of the Universe. But before starting her career, she made an appearance as an extra alongside her dad in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.
The pair appeared together on-screen, with Francesca being among the group of students present when David's character accused Harry Potter of killing his beloved cat, Mrs. Norris.
However, appearing alongside his daughter turned David into a "pushy parent" as he admitted: "I just saw this one boy who was taller than her that just elbowed himself into the frame right in front of my daughter and I thought 'I’ve got to handle this, I can't have this', so suddenly I became this ambitious, pushy parent.
"I pushed my way through, acting my little socks off, and at the same time just manoeuvred this boy out of the way. In the premiere there she was, her little head just popped up for a second and I thought 'job done'."
If it wasn't for his children, then David might never have landed the role of the grumpy caretaker. During an appearance on Ireland AM, the star revealed that his children were such big fans of the books that they encouraged him for the audition for the role, which he ultimately won.
