Is it just me, or does it feel like after January dragged on for approximately 95 days, April has suddenly appeared overnight?

We’re right on the cusp of the social season, and alongside the likes of Ascot and Wimbledon (and the very specific dressing they require), it also signals the start of wedding season - yay!

I love a wedding as much as the next person. But now that I’m in the midst of planning my own for 2027, I think my appreciation for both being invited and everything that unfolds across a wedding weekend has multiplied significantly. I'm enjoying being a guest who simply turns up, cries with happiness, dances and drinks champagne more than I ever did before.

I’ve got a very chic run of weddings lined up for 2026: one in the Cotswolds, one in Provence, and one on the sunny island of Mallorca - all with entirely different dress codes. Think South of France chic, black tie, and a slightly overwhelming but freeing “whatever you like”, which really means I’ve been deep in various tabs trying to decode what each one actually requires.

And while summer weddings tend to conjure up images of floaty florals and pastel palettes, I’m here to say: don’t write off darker hues. A rich chocolate, elegant navy, or deep red can feel just as appropriate in the sunshine when done right, and they're also appropriate for events all year round. For summer, pair with lighter white, nude, gold or silver accessories.

Wedding guest shopping, however, can feel like a bit of a minefield - especially when you’re trying to keep things within a reasonable budget. So, I’ve done the legwork and scoured the internet for the best pieces I could find for under £300. I’m fully aware that £300 is still no small spend on a dress, so the aim here is pieces that feel special enough for a wedding, but versatile enough to re-wear for other occasions (because cost per wear is everything).

I’ll be updating this throughout the season, so keep checking back for new finds and fresh inspiration - whether you’re heading to a countryside ceremony, a beachside “I do”, or something a little more black-tie.

    Alina

    Deme by Gabriella

The ruched body on this stunning dress is a Deme By Gabriella signature - and it's so elegant. The colour is the perfect whimsical hue for summer, plus the sheer skirt gives the freedom to dance without restrictions all night long.

    Ruched Bust Satin Slip Dress

    Because of Alice

I love the deep, rich colour of this classic slip dress, elevated with delicate chiffon detailing cascading across the sides. Perfect for a black tie wedding, whatever the season.

    Danika

    Club L London

Florals for a summer wedding are a classic. I love this statement pattern as opposed to ditsy flowers for a more contemporary feel.

    Strapless Floral-appliquéd Satin-Twill Dress

    Badgley Mischka

This 90s-coded silhouette of this Badgley Mischka piece caught my eye immediately. I love the strapless, knee-length design, the bubblegum pink hue and the statement floral detailing. Obsessed.

    Aries Dress in Cobalt

    Omnes

Omnes is my go-to when I know I've got a wedding coming up. The options are endless, and the price point is so good. This cobalt blue dress looks so much more expensive than it is, and it comes in 10 different colourways.

    Draped Panel Dress

    H&M

If you're looking for something under £50, H&M has some great options. I love the simplicity of this dress, elevated with the elegant draping from the sleeves.

Brown Lace Satin Short Sleeve Slip Maxi Dress

    River Island

A satin slip isn't always the right fit for those who need something bra-friendly - enter this short-sleeved version by River Island. The cut and the black lace detailing are *chefs kiss*.

    Butterfly Babe Maxi Dress

    Free People

It's no secret that polka dots are one of the trends of the year, and they're perfect for a wedding. I love this Free People piece because it's versatile enough to wear for any occasion, with any dress code.

    Yoshe Dress

    Reformation

Hear me out with this one. In my opinion, a black tie dress code allows you to go all out with party glamour (as long as the dress isn't white, of course). I love this glitzy number from Reformation - completely party coded yet still classy, elegant, and wedding appropriate.

Santorini Euroflax Premium Linen Midi Dress

    Farm Rio

If you're a major fan of patterns, Farm Rio should be your first port of call for everything from the beach to special occasions. This dress oozes summer vibes, perfect for a sunset wedding in the sunshine.
