Following their divorce, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and Sarah Ferguson famously continued to live in separate wings of the majestic Royal Lodge in Windsor from 2008 until earlier this year. However, that long-standing living arrangement came to an end following the former Duke's high-profile eviction by King Charles and his subsequent relocation to Marsh Farm on the Sandringham Estate in April 2026.
While the former couple's time at the 30-room mansion has concluded, the estate itself remains historic. A feature that is less seen by royal fans is the lodge's chapel.
The Royal Chapel of All Saints sits on the grounds and continues to serve as an informal parish church for the royals and staff of Windsor Great Park.
The royal chapel
Members of the royal family have been known to attend services there, including the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh with their daughter Lady Louise Windsor, who attended a Sunday Service there following the announcement of the death of Prince Philip in 2021.
Andrew's grandparents King George VI and the Queen Mother regularly worshipped at the chapel while they lived at Royal Lodge during their time as the Duke and Duchess of York.
Most notably in modern times, the former Duke's eldest daughter Princess Beatrice married Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi there in 2020 in a private ceremony as a result of social restrictions imposed by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Inside Royal Lodge
The Lodge boasts 30 rooms, including seven bedrooms, and a saloon.
The grounds of Royal Lodge also houses the late Queen's private cottage where Princess Eugenie's son Ernest was believed to have been pictured recently.
Next chapter
Andrew was required to leave Royal Lodge after King Charles stripped him of his royal titles and honours last year. He has since been banished to Marsh Farm on the Sandringham Estate.
Andrew moved into the property on Easter Monday and has spent his first night at his permanent new home.
His association with Jeffrey Epstein ultimately led to the loss of both his titles and official residence, and he has now relocated to the Sandringham Estate.
While his new life is expected to be far more private and removed from the media spotlight, he still has access to extensive grounds and stables, allowing him to continue his long-standing passion for horse riding.
