It is currently unknown where Sarah Ferguson is living after she moved out of Royal Lodge amid the fallout surrounding her ex-husband, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, who was arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office on 19 February.
The former Duchess of York, who many associate with Royal Lodge due to her 20-year tenure at the property on the Windsor Replica Luxury Handbag Park estate, previously enjoyed city life overseas.
Sarah Ferguson's rented London flat
In 2015, she moved out of Royal Lodge and into a £13 million chalet in Switzerland. At the time, her spokesperson addressed the move, saying: "She has a lot of international business commitments and has moved on considerably. So this is really showing she is becoming a more independent unit."
However, her representative also confirmed that Sarah would maintain a rented apartment in London and a room at Royal Lodge for "family occasions". The chalet was reportedly sold for £22 million in 2022, and she lived permanently at Royal Lodge until Andrew's exile at the request of the King in February 2026.
Sarah's 'single girl' flat was in London's exclusive Eaton Square. While the details of Fergie's rented home were kept under wraps, the area boasted lines of terraced Georgian houses that sat on the land owned by the Grosvenor family.
Since his father's death in 2016, Hugh Grosvenor, Duke of Westminster, a close friend of Prince William, has been at the helm of the Grosvenor Estate, which covers swathes of Belgravia and Mayfair.
Sarah Ferguson's former home for Beatrice and Eugenie
It's not the first time Sarah has taken a piece of the London property market, as she invested in a property in the capital city once she had offloaded her Swiss chalet. She purchased the London mews house in 2022 for £4.25 million as an investment property for her daughters, Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie.
She sold the Belgravia townhouse after receiving an offer from her tenant for an undisclosed amount in September 2025. According to The Telegraph, Land Registry documents state that her daughters were required to give written consent for the sale.
The former duchess' spokesman, James Henderson, said: "[She] wasn't looking to sell it... She was asked by the tenant to buy it and it seemed like a good time to sell. It's an investment property for her girls and so the monies will be reinvested accordingly."
Where is Sarah Ferguson living now?
Sarah Ferguson's permanent residence since the loss of her and Andrew's removal from Royal Lodge is yet to be announced publicly. However, a source told HELLO! before Andrew's arrest: "She has stood by [Andrew] all these years but is now ready to spread her wings.
"She won't be moving in with him to the new house on the Sandringham Estate. She won't be moving into Beatrice's Cotswolds home, though. Eugenie's home in Portugal is a contender while she finds somewhere."
