From a British Prince to an unofficial American Prince! Sarah Ferguson, who separated from Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor in 1992, reportedly once harbored a crush on John F. Kennedy Jr.
In the book Entitled: The Rise and Fall of the House of York, author Andrew Lownie claimed that Queen Elizabeth's former daughter-in-law even had a codename for JFK Jr.: "Number Nine."
"Number nine" indicated John's "place in the order of her lovers". A footnote in Lownie's book reveals that the former Prince Andrew was "Two", John Bryan "Three," an unidentified Arab billionaire "Four," Paul Gaisford "Five," Thomas 'Raging Bull' Muster "Six," Robert Splaine "Seven" and Ray Chambers "Eight".
Infatuated with JFK Jr.
The Entitled author wrote that Sarah would spend "hours scouring magazines for articles about" JFK Jr. and "cutting out pictures of him in his swimming trunks and talking to her friends about whether he would like different aspects of her personality".
An individual, described as one of Sarah's closest confidants, shared that the former Duchess would "suddenly turn around and ask, 'Do you think Ken will mind that I don't like such and such a thing?'"
© Karwai Tang/WireImageAccording to the confidant, it was "incredibly real to her, like a schoolgirl crush," adding: "She spends hours talking about him... The fact that she's never even met him doesn't seem to matter at all. She is utterly and totally convinced she will."
A canceled meeting at the Carlyle
Lownie also alleged in the book that Sarah asked her staff to find out whether JFK Jr. was in town during a trip to New York. Upon learning that he was, Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice's mother reportedly invited the former first son to her hotel, The Carlyle, and he accepted. When Sarah was informed that John had a girlfriend, actress Daryl Hannah, the mom of two is quoted as saying: "That's not going to bother me!"
"But it bothered Hannah and Kennedy cancelled, claiming a prior engagement," Lownie wrote in Entitled. "Staff were then ordered to spy on his apartment all night to check that he had told the truth."

Diana and JFK Jr.
It's been reported that Diana and JFK Jr. met at The Carlyle in 1995, in the summer that year. John was hoping to convince the Princess to pose for the cover of his magazine George. John reportedly later spoke about the meeting with his colleagues. "He was very careful what he said," George magazine's creative director Matt Berman once told PEOPLE. "The one funny thing he said was, 'She's got a great pair of legs.'"
RoseMarie Terenzio, John's executive assistant, also remembered JFK Jr. saying that Diana was "really tall" and "very shy".
"He was surprised how demure she was," RoseMarie recalled. "I think they had both met Mother Theresa so they spoke about that. And he said how lovely she was.”
