Sarah Ferguson has reportedly been "snubbed" over a £1.5million book deal in the United States amid the ongoing scandal surrounding her ex-husband, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor

The former Duchess of York, whose whereabouts are currently unknown, is said to have faced a "string of rejections", according to a senior Hollywood source. Fergie, as she is often known, is said to have hoped for an advance of $2million (£1.49million) for the book, though it's unknown what it would have been about.

A source told the Sunday Express: "She ended up with a string of rejections and zero response at all in a few cases. It seems no one is remotely interested in being seen to be enabling her to cash in on the Epstein scandal that has torn her own family apart and completely ruined her ex-husband."

They added: "Any notion she might have had about keeping her American dream alive now seems to have been killed off completely. Commercially, as the failed book deal shows, she’s become a pariah."

Mother-of-two Sarah has long been said to have financial troubles and previously admitted to taking £15,000 from Epstein in 2011, publicly calling it a "gigantic error of judgment".

Sarah Ferguson's fall from grace

Sarah, 66, once enjoyed a successful career across the pond, working as a correspondent for NBC's Today Show. She was also the author of several children's books, such as the Little Red series and Tea for Ruby. In the UK, she made semi-regular appearances on ITV's Loose Women and was a frequent guest at high-profile charity events.

She also appeared to be making a return to the royal fold, joining the family at Sandringham in 2023 – her first royal Christmas since the 1990s.

However, the former Duchess of York was dropped by a series of charities last year after revelations about her ties to Epstein. These included Julia's House, a children's hospice in Corfe Mullen, and food allergy charity The Natasha Allergy Research Foundation.

At the start of February, her charity, Sarah's Trust, announced it would be closing for the "foreseeable future" just days after the former Duchess featured in a release of emails concerning Jeffrey Epstein by the US Department of Justice. The charity was founded in 2020 to "champion charities across the globe" but said it would be closing after "months" of deliberation.

Where is Sarah Ferguson now?

Sarah has left Royal Lodge in Windsor, where she lived with her ex-husband Andrew for around two decades. The former couple was known to be on exceptionally good terms, with Sarah even describing them once as the "happiest divorced couple in the world", despite splitting in 1996.

Her whereabouts have since been unknown, with reports suggesting she has spent time in the French Alps, Switzerland, and the United Arab Emirates.

Last month, it was claimed that she had headed to the Ballyliffin Lodge & Spa in Donegal, an Irish wellness retreat, according to the Daily Mail. The resort is a firm favourite of the 66-year-old, who has visited in the past. Sharing a TikTok video from the location previously, she said: "I find things get sometimes overwhelming, I just try and take myself off to the most beautiful, wonderful blast of fresh air."

It's unclear where Sarah currently intends to live following the fallout of the release of the Epstein Files. A source told HELLO! previously that she would not be joining Andrew in his move to Norfolk. "She has stood by him all these years but is now ready to spread her wings," they said.

The couple shares two daughters, Princess Beatrice, 37, and Princess Eugenie, 35.
