Sarah Ferguson has managed to fly under the radar for months. After being kicked out of Royal Lodge, Windsor – the home she shared with her ex-husband Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor for almost two decades – and after being stripped of her Duchess of York title in October, Sarah has been keeping an ultra-low profile.
She emerged in public in December 2025 to attend the christening of her youngest grandchild, Athena, at the Chapel Royal at St James's Palace, London arriving by herself and spotted in the back of a car. But since then, the King's ex-sister-in-law has not been photographed.
In the latest episode of HELLO!'s A Right Royal Podcast which you can watch below, our hosts Emily Nash and Andrea Caamano discussed the elusive ex-Duchess with our guest Matt Wilkinson, royal editor of The Sun.
"Where is she? Where is Fergie? We've been trying to find her for ages," quipped Matt. "It's almost semi guesswork. She went to Ireland, to a spa there. She went to Verbier. She stayed in a chalet lent to her by Paddy McNally, an old friend."
When the prospect of Portugal came up (Sarah's younger daughter Princess Eugenie divides her time between Melides, just outside of Lisbon, and the UK due to her husband Jack Brooksbank's job), Matt said: "She could be in Portugal. Eugenie came back recently. I'm trying to remember where Eugenie is. But yes, we've not seen Sarah since the beginning of February."
"The thing with Sarah, though, is if she wanted to be seen, she would be," Matt added.
Sarah's sightings
Reports that Sarah fled to the United Arab Emirates earlier this year are now unlikely to be true. Instead, she appeared to be much closer to home. In February, the Daily Mail reported that the mother-of-two retreated to Ballyliffin Lodge & Spa in Donegal, Ireland.
The resort is a firm favourite of the 66-year-old, who has visited in the past. Sharing a TikTok video from the location previously, she has said: "I find when things get sometimes overwhelming, I just try and take myself off to the most beautiful, wonderful blast of fresh air."
Prior to this, Sarah also reportedly booked herself into the Paracelsus Recovery Clinic in Zurich, Switzerland in the wake of further allegations about her friendship with Jeffrey Epstein. The world-renowned resort charges guests £76,000 a week, and it's believed that Sarah spent time there between December and January.
Paracelcus offers access to a minimum of 15 dedicated professionals per high-profile or wealthy visitor, as well as check-ins from experts at their private lakefront penthouse for up to 10 to 12 hours a day.
Sarah has long held an affinity with Switzerland, previously owning a chalet in Verbier that was reportedly sold for £18 million in 2022.
