Meghan Markle's former Suits co-star Patrick J Adams has weighed up removing a reference to the Duchess of Sussex from his Instagram bio.

The 44-year-old starred as lawyer Mike Ross, Meghan's on-screen love interest, on the hit legal drama for seven full seasons from 2011 to 2018.

In a comical nod to his role, Patrick's Instagram bio currently reads: "The other guy from that show that you're watching on that app because that girl married that prince."

Meghan began dating Prince Harry in July 2016, when the sixth series of Suits was released. The couple married at Windsor Castle in 2018. On the big day, Meghan was joined by many of her Suits co-stars, including Patrick, Gabriel Macht, Sarah Rafferty, Rick Hoffman, Gina Torres and Abigail Spencer.

Patrick addresses his Instagram bio

Speaking to Amanda Hirsch on the Not Skinny But Not Fat podcast, Patrick addressed the reference in his social media bio.

"I've got to change that," he said. "It's the sort of thing that wherever Meghan is, if she's ever read that, she's going, 'Patrick, give me a break'. I got a lot of eye rolls – that was a constant with Meghan."

While Meghan never addressed it directly, he added: "I'm sure I got an eye roll."

Although the pair went their separate ways after the show ended, Patrick revealed she did reach out when he and Sarah Rafferty, who played Harvey Spector's formidable COO Donna, launched a Suits rewatch podcast in 2024.

"Upon hearing about the podcast, I got a lovely text, saying how excited she was for us and asking how she could help in any way," Patrick said.

Patrick reflects on his Suits career

Elsewhere in the interview, Amanda brought up Patrick's audition tape for Suits, which he said he was "proud" of after dedicating eight years of his life to the show.

"That audition tape just represented that one moment, being in that room and having that experience, that was the moment you kind of win this thing that went on to define a decade and give me so many things to be grateful for."

Patrick left Suits alongside Meghan at the end of season seven, which aired in April 2018.

Reflecting on his departure, he said: "I was burned out. I was becoming a not nice person to work with, because I was becoming frustrated… You get to a point of seven years of a show and you have to repeat things, right? I think I just wanted it to be shook up in a way that it shouldn't be."

After speaking to his mother, he realised he was only continuing for financial reasons. "She was like, then that's not a reason to do it. You gotta go."
