Countess Karen Spencer, the estranged wife of Earl Spencer, has revealed the exciting news that she will be welcoming some new arrivals at her sprawling Northamptonshire home.
Taking to her official Instagram account, the Canadian-born social entrepreneur, 53, told her followers that she has received six Buff Orpington chicken eggs, birds which she described as the "labrador retriever of chickens" who are set to hatch in 22 days.
"We’re adding to the already slightly over-the-top menagerie this spring with two new additions that I am REALLY excited about!" Countess Karen wrote. Adding: "I just received my 6 Buff Orpington chicken eggs today. So excited. I read they are like the Labrador Retriever of chickens; they are friendly and like a cuddle. We figured that if we hatch them, we can make them extra tame and cuddly! I love chickens."
"Stay tuned, they go in the incubator on the 3rd… then 22 days later we should have chicks [red love heart and chicks emoji]. Second addition should be arriving in a few weeks… #bufforpington #chick #chickens."
The update went down a treat with friends and fans, who were quick to weigh-in in the comments section. "How exciting Karen, I can’t wait to see them," one penned alongside a white love heart emoji. "They sound absolutely enchanting," a second added. Meanwhile, a third penned: "This is wonderful! Can't wait to see the new additions!"
Moving on
Since splitting with her former husband, Charles Spencer, Princess Diana's brother, Countess Spencer has built a beautiful new life with her daughter, Lady Charlotte, whom she and Charles welcomed in 2012.
After living at the historical Althorp House, Princess Diana's childhood home, Karen has relocated to a beautiful historic home designed by contemporary architect Charles Morris.
Since moving in in October, Countess Spencer has been sharing stunning glimpses of her new abode and sharing its history for her followers.
Showing off one decadent corner, Karen shared a number of details about the property. "Am deep in study at the moment. The beautiful house I bought was designed by contemporary architect Charles Morris, who is known for his work on historic sites and new country houses. My house was inspired by the well-known 19th-century architect Sir Edwin Lutyens," she penned shortly after moving in.
Countess Spencer continued: "I’ll be adding a few things and making some changes but before I do anything I am making an effort to educate myself on Lutyens’ work as well as all that went in to the original design of this house. I’m lucky enough to have been left all the original correspondence and designs by the previous owners who built it, so I can attempt to understand it better. What fun!"
