The coming year is set to be a big one for Prince George, as he will be starting secondary school in September.
The young royal, 12, also appears to have had quite the growth spurt, stunning royal fans with his new height as he attended the Easter Day service in St George's Chapel, Windsor, on Sunday.
George was nearly as tall as his mother, Kate, even though she was wearing her Ralph Lauren heels, and towered over his younger siblings, Princess Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louis, seven. The future King was nearly matching his mother in height, and is only a few centimetres away from overtaking her.
Noting how tall George has become, one royal fan wrote: "I still can’t get over how tall he’s gotten… and he’s not yet 13." Another added: "The fact that Prince George (not yet 13) is almost as tall as his mum in heels!😳🤍"
A third commented that George will be "the tallest King in history" when he one day inherits the throne from his father, Prince William. "All the children are tall but my word, George is certainly shooting up. Will probably be taller than Papa," one person said.
A royal growth spurt!
The Wales family last attended the Easter Sunday service in 2023, before the Princess's cancer diagnosis. Photos from the time show that three years have made the world of difference, with a nine-year-old Prince George appearing much smaller.
He even appears to have shot up since last Christmas, when the young royal joined his family on two significant occasions – for the Christmas Day service, and Kate's 'Together at Christmas' carol service.
The delightful family photos, taken just months ago, show just how much George has grown, and mark the start of an exciting year for the young royal that will also see him celebrate his 13th birthday.
Growing responsibilities
Though his future reign as King is still many years in the future, George has already started to take on some increased responsibilities.
In December, he joined his father, the Prince of Wales, to visit The Passage, a homelessness organisation in Victoria. The heartwarming visit saw father and son helping out with care packages and decorating a Christmas tree, as well as getting "stuck in" with Christmas lunch preparations.
Mick Clarke, chief executive of The Passage, said at the time: "I said, we've just got a number of different things for you to help us with. So, time to roll your sleeves up and get stuck in. He was well up for it. Absolutely. Very much like his dad in terms of he just wanted to crack on, which was lovely."
However, George is unlikely to take up full-time royal duties until he is much older and has finished his education, with William and Kate hoping for as normal an upbringing as possible for their three children.
