The Prince and Princess of Wales are "normal" and "active" when it comes to their children's time at school, a new report has revealed.
Prince William And Kate are "heavily involved", with their involvement extending to parents' WhatsApp groups and watching swimming and sporting events on the sidelines, according to sources cited in The Telegraph over the weekend.
A Palace source even called Kate the "school mum you’d call to scoop your children up when you’re running late".
Prince George, 12, Princess Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louis, eight, all currently study at Lambrook School in Berkshire. In September, George will attend secondary school, likely Eton or Malborough, though this has not yet been confirmed.
Jason Knauf, their former press secretary and now CEO of the Earthshot Prize, told the newspaper that they have laid "the foundations for long-term family life".
He added: "The priority for everyone, set by them together, was 'We need to be able to establish a rhythm so we can have as much normal family time with our children as possible'".
William and Kate's strict rule at home
In many ways, the Princess of Wales seems to be recreating her wholesome childhood for her children. Kate grew up in Berkshire with her siblings, Pippa and James, enjoying active family holidays with her parents, Carole and Michael.
She seems to have emulated this for her own children – for example, Louis was seen playing cricket on a beach during their recent Easter trip to Cornwall.
However, the Waleses have one very strict rule at home at Forest Lodge in Windsor for George, Charlotte, and Louis.
While filming an episode of Apple TV’s The Reluctant Traveler in February 2025, Prince William revealed to Emmy winner Eugene Levy that none of his kids "have any phones," adding that he and Catherine are "very strict about" that.
Where are the Wales children going to school next?
Prince William and Kate have a big decision looming for Prince George's future education, but they have several options lined up.
Speaking on a recent episode of HELLO!'s A Right Royal Podcast, Melanie Sanderson, managing editor of The Good Schools Guide, shared that the royal couple could very well be holding multiple places as they consider their options.
Though there's not a "huge amount of time to accept" a school place, Melanie said she suspects "the normal rules possibly don't apply" for the royals.
"I feel as though the Waleses may be holding multiple places at different schools. It sort of feels as though if they had made a definitive decision, somebody would know and it would be out there," she explained.
Though the decision about Princess Charlotte's future school is some way off, HELLO! understands that the Prince and Princess of Wales are considering Wellington and Marlborough among the options.
