Live like the Queen

Ever wondered what it's like to live like a Queen? Members of the public are now getting the chance to peek inside the private apartments of the late Queen Elizabeth II at Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh for the first time ever. King Charles has decided to allow the spaces to be made public to celebrate what would have been the year of his mother's 100th birthday.

On Thursday, there was a press preview of the rooms, so allow us to give you a special tour of the previously top secret spaces, including a cosy sitting room, a private breakfast room where Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip used to dine and even Her Majesty's former writing desk, complete with all-important red despatch boxes.

Royal foodie

The King created a stir on a visit to a community hub when he turned his hand to baking a "VIP dessert" for people who rely on the centre for hot meals.

Charles was accompanied by the Queen on the tour of the Warehouse centre in Newtownards, Co Down.

The former pub has been repurposed as a volunteer-supported facility that provides free food supplies and meals to people in need, using excess produce from supermarkets and other suppliers that would otherwise have gone to waste.

Charles helped out in the kitchen by stirring up a gluten-free chocolate cake mix.

Kisses for Camilla!

One four-legged royal fan couldn't wait to greet Queen Camilla on her final day in Northern Ireland, and did so with a kiss, licking the royal on the face while in Newtownards.

Further details on Andrew's trade appointments

Further files into Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor's previous trade envoy role. The files revealed that the late Queen was "very keen" for her son to take on a "prominent role in the promotion of national interests".

A Downing Street spokeswoman said: "We are complying with the humble address and we're publishing those documents as quickly as possible. We're also supporting the police investigation as you would expect.

"And we'll provide the House with any other substantive documents we find in the course of that work."

Musical monarch

Things took an unexpected turn at the allotment as King Charles was seen showing off his musical abilities by playing a ukulele! The royal has been getting in touch with his musical side on his trip to Northern Ireland, and on the first day of the visit, he and Queen Camilla played traditional Bodhran drums. Charles kicks the day off

The King and Queen are continuing their tour of Northern Ireland, and on the third day, the pair ended up on separate engagements. Starting off his day, Charles visited Ards Allotments, an allotment founded by owner Maurice after he saw footage of the then Prince of Wales visiting one on the news years ago.

Party prince

After the win, the Prince of Wales headed out to celebrate. Swedish influencer Maja Nilsson Lindelöf, who is married to Aston Villa centre-back Victor Lindelöf, shared a photo from a club where she met the royal.

She posted the phrase 'Spåra ur direkt', a common Swedish phrase which is used for situations that can quickly spiral out of control.

Good morning!

It's a busy day for the royals, with the Duke of Cornwall (aka known as the Prince of Wales) heading down to Cornwall. The royal will likely be nursing a sore head after heading to Istanbul last to watch Aston Villa triumph in the Europa League and partying into the night.

Elsewhere, Sweden's Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia will be heading down to Florence, while the Duchess of Edinburgh will be journeying to Devon for the Devon Country Show.

Throwback

While we wait to see if it's joy or heartache for William tonight, the Prince of Wales was seen reacting to every missed chance and goal scored during Villa's 2025 Champions League game against Celtic FC.

And who can forget Princess Charlotte's rollercoaster of emotions at Commonwealth Games in 2022?

Good luck charm

I do enjoy looking back at the royal stories that took place in UK hours, and this headline had me chuckling over my morning coffee...

Yes, you read that right. Charles was greeted in a rather surprising way when he stepped out for a solo visit in Northern Ireland on Wednesday. But as they say, it is supposed to bring good luck...

Talking about the honour, she said: "Sport taught me discipline, respect, and pushing beyond one’s limits. Today, I wish to put that experience at the service of athletes. It is therefore with a deep sense of commitment that I take on this role. Sport carries within it a demand for excellence, but also a responsibility: to unite, inspire, and pass on values."

Rejected appeal

Marius Borg Høiby's appeal to the Supreme Court to serve the remainder of his pre-trial detention at home has been rejected.

The son of Norway's Crown Princess Mette-Marit requested to serve the last part of his detention with an anklet at home in Skaugum, where his mother and his stepfather, Crown Prince Haakon, 52, live.

Marius' appeal has been rejected

According to reports, his request has been flatly rejected by both the district court and the court of appeal, as both have reached the same decision that the risk of new offences being committed is too great.

Marius has been in custody since the trial began in early February. A previous request for release had already been rejected by the court because of “the seriousness and scope of the case as well as the high risk of reoffending.”

Meghan's whistle-stop visit!

Meghan Markle briefly touched down in the UK on her way home to LA from Geneva – marking an incredibly rare visit.

The Duchess of Sussex, 44, has not spent prolonged time in Britain since 2022, when she attended the funeral of the late Queen Elizabeth II with Prince Harry

However, she may have stopped briefly for occasional stopovers when passing through, with reports suggesting she travelled via Heathrow in July 2024 when visiting Nigeria.

Celebrating her eighth wedding anniversary with Harry on Tuesday, Meghan shared a handwritten card she received from the British Airways crew on her flight back home from Switzerland, where she gave a powerful address about the dangers of social media for children.

Alongside a Union Jack emoji, Meghan said: "Thanks to this amazing flight crew for all the love yesterday! Appreciate all your memories and kind words @british_airways."

Messages signed by the captain and crew were marked with the flight number, BA269, which goes from London Heathrow to LAX, showing that Meghan must have passed through the UK on her way back from Switzerland.
