Talking about German engineering might sound boring, but bear with me here. To it, we owe Porsche, Mercedes, Audi and BMW, which is quite the line up of car brands famed for their superiority, right? That’s because German engineers are renowned for over-engineering their products, designing them to withstand far more stress than they’re ever likely to face. This philosophy extends well beyond cars, too; it’s also at the heart of Horizn Studios, a German luggage brand known for creating suitcases that last a lifetime… and look chic while doing so.
Germany’s engineering culture prioritises longevity and precision, which is exactly what you want from a suitcase – and in particular, hand luggage. Well, I know it’s exactly what I want. I want a small case that’s easy to manoeuvre, but also durable enough to handle every kind of journey and reliably keep my belongings safe and secure. If you feel the same, I’ve found one that ticks all the boxes: the Horizn Studios H5 GO.
Part of the brand’s affordable Go Series, these pocket rocket suitcases are a minimalist take on modern travel, pairing a sleek aesthetic with durable materials and functionality. For example, the lightweight hard shell is made from premium polycarbonate to ensure impact resistance. And the smooth 360 degree spinner wheels make it feel like you’re not dragging a suitcase at all.
The best news of all is that HELLO! readers can get a 25% discount on these nifty hand luggage cases until the end of May, with the code HSXHELLO. Ahead, find out why the H5 GO is my new travel essential as someone who makes a lot of short trips...
My review of Horizn Studios hand luggage
When it comes to travelling, your hand luggage can make or break your trip – trust me, I’ve suffered plenty of broken wheels and jammed handles in my time. Weighing a mere 2.8kg, the H5 GO maximised every millimeter of its interior when I took it for a whirl, and at no point did it have any functional hiccups. I used it for a weekend getaway, and it accommodated everything but the kitchen sink: four outfits, my toiletries arsenal, my unforgivingly heavy makeup bag and my hair straighteners.
I got the minimalist-design hand luggage case in the Dark Slate hue, which is a chic charcoal grey. That being said, you can also get it in Timber Wood, a beige-y khaki that I can imagine Kim Kardashian would love, and River Blue, a deep blue with green-y undertones, for those who like a pop of colour in their travel kit without overdoing it.
