The Nineties had some iconic (and downright weird) reality TV moments across the decade. But what happens after you find fame as a road-tripping teenager or ringmaster of the superhero-like Gladiators? For some, it's a successful career alongside stars like Colin Firth and Hugh Grant, for others early success doubles down into decades of television gold.
We're taking a look at some familiar faces from the decade that caused chaos with its experimental approach to a new TV genre. From Road Rules to Judge Judy, reality TV doesn't get much better than this – and neither do its stars.

Judith Sheindlin – Judge Judy
The people are real, the cases are real, the rulings are final. If a low-timbered voiceover sounded out Judge Judy’s iconic introduction, it’s likely you remember the 1990s’ favourite former judge. Dramatic on-screen confrontation, video evidence and that all-important gavel combined in drama that rebranded the courtroom as a dynamic entertainment space.
Judge Judy ran from 1996 for a total of 25 seasons as the ex-NYC judge took on small claims cases until the show was concluded in 2021. The former judge has since starred in Judy Justice on Amazon Prime. She’s been married to former trial judge Gerald Sheindlin since 1978, though the couple divorced and remarried in 1990, and have 5 children (3 from Gerald’s previous marriage and 2 from Judy’s first marriage).

Mike Adamle – Gladiators
Mike’s career as a sports anchor led to a 7 year hosting gig on American Gladiators. His love of sport came from a successful career at Northwestern University with the Wildcats (not to be confused with Troy Bolton's East High Wildcats). Mike played as a running-back in the NFL for the Chiefs, Jets and Bears for a total of six years, before taking on a variety of hosting roles, including co-hosting NBC’s NFL pre-game show.
Mike is married to Kim Adamle with whom he shares two daughters, as well as two step-children. The former NFL player was diagnosed with chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) and retired in 2016.

Rachel Campos-Duffy – The Real World: San Francisco
Rachel Campos-Duffy’s career pipeline from The Real World star to Fox & Friends co-host is certainly surprising, though she’s obviously not the only Republican to have gotten their start this way.
The Arizona-born reality TV star debuted on MTV’s The Real World: San Francisco in 1994 and went on to appear in Road Rules: All Stars in 1998, reuniting with other Real World cast members. Rachel eventually transitioned onto Fox News’ Outnumbered as a guest host and was hired on a permanent basis as co-host of Fox & Friends Weekend in 2021.
Her marriage also owes its start to MTV: Rachel met her now-husband Sean Duffy on Road Rules: All Stars. Sean has also worked as a Fox News host, Wisconsin Representative and now acts as transportation secretary. The couple share 9 children together.

The former Real World star has two daughters, Lyric and Jazz Anderson. She divorced her first husband, former NBA player Kenny Anderson, in 2001 and has since married ex-NFL player Reginald Youngblood.

Jacinda Barrett – The Real World
The Australian actress got her first starring role on 1995 series The Real World: London. At the time, she had hopes of becoming a pilot which the series documented, funding her qualification. She got her big break in 2003 as Steena Paulsson in The Human Stain and has worked alongside Colin Firth and Renée Zellweger on Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason, had a recurring role in tv drama Bloodline and worked on Suits with husband and fellow actor Gabriel Macht.
She met now-husband, actor Gabriel Macht in 2000 on a blind date and the pair got married in 2004. Her husband is most notable for roles in American Outlaws, Behind Enemy Lines and as Harvey Specter on Suits. The couple have two children together, daughter Satine Anais Geraldine and son Luca.
