It's easy to slip up with an expletive when there's a hard topic at hand, just ask Mikaela Shiffrin.
Fresh off of the Olympian's gold medal in women's slalom, the 30-year-old appeared on TODAY, during which along with discussing her big win — her first medal in eight years — she also opened up about her late dad.
Her father Jeff Shiffrin abruptly passed away aged 65 in 2020, after falling from the roof of their Denver home and suffering from head trauma.
Talking about Jeff, and honoring him after her win, she started: "There's been, definitely, a spiritual journey I've been on the last year. I just, I don't know, I took a moment and I said, '[expletive]'," before letting out an expletive followed by another when apologizing over the slip-up.
Hosts Hoda Kotb, Craig Melvin, and Carson Daly were quick to understand, quipping: "It's okay," and: "You're not alone," as well as: "We'll pay the fine."
