Today's hosts shared the exciting news on June 4 that a Shania Twain biopic is being currently worked on.
The announcement inspired the anchors to brainstorm which actor would portray them on the silver screen if they ever got the opportunity to do a biopic on their own lives.
Savannah Guthrie asked Craig Melvin who should play him, as the TV star shut the idea down by admitting: "Oh, there'll be no biopic," as Dylan Dreyer interjected: "Idris Elba?"
Craig immediately got on board as he commented: "I mean, yeah," as Dylan shared: "You gotta up it." Craig joked: "What are you trying to say?"
The TV anchor threw the same questions back at Savannah, as she commented: "This is a fun party game."
Savannah confessed: "I have no idea. I've never thought about it."
Craig interjected: "I would say Gwyneth Paltrow," as Savannah commented: "Oh, that'd be nice. If she dyed her hair brown [and] became a little less healthy."
Carson Daly chimed in: "How about Elizabeth Banks right here," as the team agreed.
Savannah replied: "What about you – Brendan Fraser," as Carson responded: "Maybe," and Craig commented: "That's good."
It was Dylan's turn as she revealed: "In my mind, I always say Charlize Theron."
The anchors laughed together, and Savannah commented: "Of course. You know what, that's right. I want that for you."
Carson interjected: "I see Charlize in my mind sometimes too." Savannah blushed while adding: "It's getting hot up in here."
The team asked Jenna Bush Hager next and she admitted: "I don't know and I don't want to see me on the screen."
The debate continues
After returning from commercial break, the anchors continued laughing at their biopic conversation.
Savannah shared: "I was gonna say Brendan Fraser is hot," as Carson replied: "I appreciate that. He did star in a movie called The Whale, but I appreciate that you think that he should play me in my biopic."
Savannah defended her opinion, adding: "Listen, he was here last week. He's incredibly handsome and fit and he looks like you."
Carson replied: "He's a great guy. He's a great pick," as Jenna came to Savannah's defense saying: "She didn't say 'from The Whale.' That's a character."
Brendan's visit to Today
Brendan was featured on the Today show on May 26 and he shared insight into his latest role as General Dwight D. Eisenhower in the WWII drama Pressure.
The new film tells the story behind the intense 72 hours leading up to D-Day, and how the weather negatively affected the attack, being that the initial date was delayed by a day due to the rough seas.
The star admitted: "I tried to pay attention in history class but I did not know that the entire operation could have been derailed by a weather report."
