Kamila Sellier has an update after her gruesome accident on the ice.
On Friday, the Polish athlete was seen immobilized on a stretcher and wheeled out of the Milano Ice Skating Arena during the women's 1,500 meters at the Milan Cortina Olympics.
The short-track speedskater had been sliced above her left eye by a competitor's blade, though she has since maintained she is "doing quite okay."
Following the incident, Kamila, 25, took to Instagram and shared a health update, posting a selfie of herself, seemingly in a hospital gown, making a heart with her thumb and pointer fingers.
"I know that one day I'll look at this picture and remember that I'm stronger than I ever believed," she first wrote, in Polish.
"Thank you for all your words of support," she went on, maintaining: "Just wanted to let you know that I'm doing quite okay."
Fans were then quick to take to the comments section under the post and extend their support, with one writing: "We all keep our fingers crossed for a quick recovery!" as others followed suit with: "Hang in there! It's going to be beautiful again!" and: "So glad you're doing okay! Thinking of you," as well as: "Forza Kamila, get well soon."
During the game on Friday, Kamila went down along with Ariana Fontana of Italy, a 15-time Olympic medalist, and American skater Kristen Santos-Griswold, who was penalized for an illegal lane pass that contributed to the accident, subsequently keeping her from advancing through the quarterfinal round.
The race was paused while Kamila was tended to, and though a large white sheet was blocking her from the crowd, she left behind a trail of blood in the final corner of the track, which workers cleaned up during the break. Before being wheeled off, she gave a thumbs up to onlookers.
Following the slashing, Polish officials had already said Kamila's eye was okay, adding that she received stitches at the arena before going to the hospital for more tests.
Her Italian opponent also had her skinsuit nicked up and she received some help from her physiotherapist on her left hip during the pause, before finishing second to Hanne Desmet of Belgium, sending her through to the semifinal round.
The 2026 Winter Olympics, held between Milan and Cortina d'Ampezzo, come to a close today, Sunday, February 22, with the closing ceremony being held at the Verona Arena at 2:30pm EST.
